AUTOMATIC BOTTLE FILING MACHINE

Abstract
Bottle filling machine is used in beverage and other bottling industries. Traditional
methods of bottle filling involved placing bottles onto a conveyor and filling only
one bottle at a time. This method is time consuming and expensive. This paper
aims at filling bottles simultaneously. [1]The filling and capping operation takes
place in a synchronized manner. It also includes a user-defined volume selection
menu through which the user can input the desired volume to be filled in the
bottles. The entire system is more flexible, low cost and time saving. The filling
operations are controlled using Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’S). This is
because PLC’s are very flexible, cost effective, space efficient and reduces
complexity. By programming the PLC we control the entire system. Effective space
efficient and reduces complexity. By programming the PLC we control the entire
system. Latches are used as the controller to control the operation of this machine
where the machine consists of conveyor system and filling station. This system is
equipped with accurate flow control pump precisely controls the volume of water
pumped over a certain period time in to the container. A latch is selected as the
controller because it is easier to understand and the compact size makes it easier
to attach it with the system. [2]

CONTROL STREAM
AUTOMATIC BOTTLE FILING MACHINE

Introduction
Normally, liquid filling machine is a system used in industries to control the filling
of liquid in a container or bottle automatically where only two inputs are needed.
(1) The inputs are quantity of container and the type of liquid required to fill in the
container.
(2) The amount liquid filled in a bottle depends on the amount money paid

This project concentrates on a controlling the liquid flow to a bottle. The liquid
flow is mounted where it can fill an empty bottle container automatically without
human intervention. The filler automatically fills the bottle with liquid according to
the volume given by user. Accurate flow control pump is used to accurately fill the
liquid volume in to the bottle. For Specified time and the filling time is control by
programmable logic controller (PLC). In addition this project is also included the
conveyor system with carrier bottle to the filling station and out the filling
station.[4]

Statement of the problem

The problem statements for this project are most of the liquid filling machine in
the market are not fully automatic. Those machines require human intervention
to operate properly. There are fully automatic liquid filling machine in the market
but there is a major obstacle that stops the machine to be used in the normal
application. The major obstacle is the price of the machine which is expensive.
Traditional methods of bottle filling involved placing bottles onto a conveyor and
filling only one bottle at a time. This Method is time consuming and expensive.

Literature Review
In the late 1960’s PLC were introduced .The primary reason of designing such
devices was the large cost involved in replacing relay based machine control
system .When production requirement changed so did the control system. This
becomes expensive when the change is frequent. Since the relays are mechanical
system device also have a limited life time which required strict adhesion to
maintenance schedule In mid-70’s the dominant PLC techniques were sequence
state machine and bit slice based computer processing unit (CPU).Conventional
microprocessor lack the power to quickly solve PLC logic in all but the smallest
programming logic control (PLC).In 80’s attempt to moderate communication with
general motor manufacturing automation protocol. It also a time for reducing as
size of programming logic control (PLC).making them software through symbolic
programming or personal computer instead of dedicated programming terminal. In
90’s half seen gradual reduction in the introduction of new protocol and
modernization of the physical layer of the some of the more popular protocols.

In 2015 JYAMIN PATEL is develop an automatic bottle, filling and capping

system with a deduction mechanism using sensors. Automatic filling process for
all the bottles simultaneously with a user defined selection for volume to be filled.
Bottles are kept in position in a carton over a conveyor belt; they are sensed to
detect their presence. Proximity sensors are used for sensing the bottles. Depending
on the output of the sensor the corresponding pumps switch on and filling
operation takes place. If the bottle is not present then the pump in that position is
switched off, thereby avoiding wastage of the liquid. The filling operation is
accompanied with a user-defined volume selection menu which enables the user to
choose the volume of liquid to be filled. The filling process is done based on
timing. Depending on the present value of the timer the pump is switched on for
that particular period of time and the filling is done. When no bottles are kept in
the input the system is reset. Depending on the number of bottles fed into the input
side, the corresponding bottles are filled. The process is also provided with a user
defined volume selection menu. Once the bottles are detected in the input side the
conveyor motor switches ON and it starts moving in the forward direction. The
bottles then reach the desired position for filling and the conveyor stops. The
corresponding pumps in process tank switch ON and filling operation takes place.
For e.g. if only bottle is present then inlet valve switches ON. He is correct but use
two separate program diagram that increase complexity and difficult to control.

Objective
General objective:
 To develop an automatic bottle, filling and capping system with a
deduction mechanism using sensors. Automatic filling process for all
the bottle simultaneously with a user defined selection for volume to
be filled.
The specific objective:
 Design a system that can fill the bottle with accurately and a
particular liquid filled continuously.
 Optimize the rate and capacity of production by transform from
manual to automatic system.

 Greatly decreases the need for human sensory in all aspects

Methodology
Bottles are kept in position in a carton over a conveyor belt; they are sensed to
detect their presence. IR sensors are used for sensing the bottles. Depending on
the output of the sensor the corresponding pumps switch on and filling operation
takes place. If the particular bottle is not present then the pump in that position is
switched off, thereby avoiding wastage of the liquid. The filling operation is
accompanied with a user-defined volume selection menu which enables the user
to choose the volume of liquid to be filled. The filling process is done based on
timing. Depending on the present value of the timer the pump is switched on for
that particular period of time and the filling is done

Deliverability
After completing the project, we will see that manual work is eliminated and instead we use
automatic based bottle filling system. The cost will also be decreased. The system is designed
that can fill the bottle with accurately and a particular liquid filled continuously.
