(EXCO Rigs)

1. Purpose
The common thread throughout the SOP and HWD Policies and Procedures in general is
the identification of responsibilities. This manual is intended to clearly and concisely
identify the steps required by employees to complete any given operation in a manner
that is consistent with Horizontal Well Drillers standards. It will document progressive
steps required in sequence that are to be followed, an authorizing company department or
position, and an author that is to be consulted if there are questions in any portion of the
SOP standards.

2. Scope
ALL RIG PERSONNEL

3. Prerequisites
Personnel are required to wear proper personal protective equipment, follow job safety
rules, and have the appropriate experience and certifications to carry out their job
functions satisfactorily.

4. Responsibilities
Superintendent and Truck pusher/Rig Move Supervisors will be responsible for
completing the procedure to standard for their moving crew during rig move operations.
Superintendent and Tool pusher will have ultimate accountability that driller and crews
are completing the procedure to standard for rig crew responsibilities for moving
operations. Driller and crews will be responsible for implementation and actions to
complete this task as described in the procedure steps.

2.0 Pre lift check List

2.1 All Slings and winch cables will be inspected.
Inspection tags / serial numbers with certification papers to be on site.
During the inspection if any frayed or broken strands are found, winch cable is to be put out of service.
Inspection of all clevises and clamps. No cracking, chipping, shape changes or wear spots.
Drive chains and sprockets checked for proper slack adjustment and lubrication.
Hydraulic motors and hoses checked for leaks.
Roll Tail inspected for (rolling) and lubrication.
Proper loading side pins.
Measurement of load to be lifted and marked at tipping point.
Safe zone to be identified for personal during the lift.
Use proper size cable for load weight
Double lining is the preferred method
Communications from ground man and operators, radio or hand signals

3.0 Winch line hook up

Bridle or winch line to be installed, lay cable flat on the tong and rap from top to bottom
Around (ear) or pin.
Hold loop up, to be hooked to main lift cable on truck. Note ( Bridle is pulling up on the
Bottom of ears.)
No Crossing of lines.

4.0 Assisted lifting required on all skid lifts

A pole truck or crane will be used to help lift skid onto the roll tail of the truck or trailer.
25% of the lift weight should be lifted by assist method.
Hook up shall be a winch cable with a loops on the outside of the main bridle cable.
Assisted lifting shall stop after skid has been winched part way onto truck or trailer,
(3' past roll tail)

5.0 Lifting
With assist in position, winch truck will back up to pump or skid and hook up winch line (Hook up)
Ground man or designated person will give direction to winch operator to raise or lower winch.
Assist truck or crane will also take direction from designated person to lift or lower as needed.
During the lift ground men will observe the load watching for proper loading angle,
Side movement, catch points the may effect a clean lift.
Stage one of the lifting process, skid or pump will be lifted 1' foot, a full walk around will be done,
Inspection of winch cables, no over laps or loops allowed.
Stage Two, Ground man will instruct both operators to begin lifting together, a slow pace
Is required.

Stage 3, As the skid rolls over roll tail and onto to truck at least 3' foot ( all stop is given)
Ground man will check load if all is OK the will lower assist winch and unhook his cables.
Stage 4, Ground man will instruct winch operator to lift skid onto his truck bed or holding at
The tipping point.
At this point winch truck can move load by driving slowly, however if load is to be moved a
Distance in must be chained and secured to Truck bed.

6.0 Unloading

Ground man will instruct operator to winch down, this will lower back of skid to the ground.
When skid is approximately 3' feet on bed
of winch truck, an assist crane or pole truck will hook onto front of skid and assist in letting
Skid or pump to the ground.
