SwitchBlade® Hydraulics - A patented cross-flow design to improve the drilling efficiency of Profile: Short Taper - Medium Cone
PDC drill bits. Conventional PDC bit hydraulics channel all flow from the central region of the bit
outwards. Much of the flow is used inefficiently and contributes little to cleaning and cooling the
PDC cutters or to bottom hole cleaning. By using a new cross-flow approach, the SwitchBlade® Recommended Operating
design makes more efficient use of the total fluid volume. Parameters 
DiamondBack™ cutters - Are strategically positioned in the critical wear areas of the bit to Max Operating WOB (klbs): 38
provide a second row of cutters to some or all blades. This gives up to twice the PDC cutter TFA Range (ins2): 0.527 - 1.116
density, enhancing the durability of the bit or tool, giving more footage and a higher average Max Flow (gpm): 500
ROP (since the bit stays sharper for longer). Additionally, lateral stability is improved since the
effective number of blades is dramatically increased. Available as an option in Hybrid PDC bits Pressure Drop(psi): 700-1500
and tools, DiamondBack cutters replace the diamond impregnated studs in critical areas of the HSI: 2-7
bit or tool. In some applications this bit is run successfully beyond these
