SUBJECT: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE.
‘At approximately 10:51 am. the Gouverneur Police Department received a report of an
attempted armed robbery had just occured atthe Main Street Consignment store located
at 59-67 E. Main St. The owner reported a white male subject approached the counter
and displayed wit appeared to be a silver handgun and made a verbal demand for
‘money. When the owner refused to hand over money the perpetrator fled on foot
‘A jacket and ball cap believed to have been worn by the suspect was found disposed of
‘on John Si, A citizen noticed the clothing and reported to police as they were arriving in
the area. Police then located the alleged handgun in close proximity ofthe clothing. ‘The
handgun was determined tobe a CO2 ai pistol,
A canvass and interviews of citizens in the area lead a state police unit to female subject
‘walking on W. Main St. who matched the description. She was taken into custody at
approximately 12:35 p.m, and transported tothe Gouvermeur PD. She was interviewed
and admitted to committing the crime.
Based upon the interview and other evidence Chelsie I. Rocke age 21,21 Smith St,
Gouverneur, NY was charged with ATTEMPTED ROBBERY 2 DEGREE, class D
felony. She was araigned at the Gouverneur Town Court before Justice Stan Young and
remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional in lieu of $5,000 cash bail’ $10,000,
bond,
Gouverneur Police Department was assisted by the New York State Police, New York
State Police Canine Unit and St. Lawrence Co, Sheril's Office.
