Arduino, Raspberry pi etc.

We are engineering project consultants at Kottayam ,Ernakulam especially in electronics and communication
engineering (ECE) , electrical and electronics engineering (EEE), and computer engineering (CSE). Students
get guidance and trained from here in diffrentapplication area such as power electronics, drives, embedded
system, DSP, VLSI , FPGA etc based on IEEE topics.

We strongly encourage students to learn the methods for implementing their ideas rather than giving a
solution. Our students will be able to design and realize their ideas
It is a major concern expressed by academic fraternity that most of the project-centers hand over
readymade projects to the students rather than train them for doing projects. This impairs the very objective
of making of engineers with real technical insight.
We do a humble effort for resolving this major concern by providing guidance and support for doing technical
projects. For last two decades we have been providing training in specialized areas such as hardware support
for Simulink models, PCB design and programming with different Microcontrollers, Digital Signal Processors,
etc.
We train students in MATLAB Simulink implementation for TMS320, dSPIC, Raspberry pi and Arduino by
generating code with embedded coder. It gives more efficient code and saves time to implement designs.

ARDUINO PROJECTS

What is Arduino?Arduino is an open-source prototyping platform based on easy-to-use hardware and software. Arduino boards are

able to read inputs - light on a sensor, a finger on a button, or a Twitter message - and turn it into an output - activating a motor,

turning on an LED, publishing something online. All this is defined by a set of instructions programmed throughthe Arduino Software

(IDE).

Over the years Arduino has been the brain of thousands of projects, from everyday objects to complex scientific instruments. A

worldwide community of makers - students, hobbyists, artists, programmers, and professionals - has gathered around this

open-source platform, their contributions have added up to an incredible amount of accessible knowledge that can be of great help

to novices and experts alike.

Arduino was born at the Ivrea Interaction Design Institute as an easy tool for fast prototyping, aimed at students without a

background in electronics and programming. As soon as it reached a wider community, the Arduino board started changing to adapt

to new needs and challenges, differentiating its offer from simple 8-bit boards to products for IoT applications, wearable, 3D printing,

and embedded environments. All Arduino boards are completely open-source, empowering users to build them independently and

eventually adapt them to their particular needs. Thesoftware, too, is open-source, and it is growing through the contributions of users

worldwide.

Thanks to its simple and accessible user experience, Arduino has been used in thousands of different projects and applications. The
Arduino software is easy-to-use for beginners, yet flexible enough for advanced users. It runs on Mac, Windows, and Linux.
Teachers and students use it to build low cost scientific instruments, to prove chemistry and physics principles, or to get started with
programming and robotics. Designers and architects build interactive prototypes, musicians and artists use it for installations and to
experiment with new musical instruments. Makers, of course, use it to build many of the projects exhibited at the Maker Faire, for
example. Arduino is a key tool to learn new things. Anyone - children, hobbyists, artists, programmers - can start tinkering just
following the step by step instructions of a kit, or sharing ideas online with other members of the Arduino community.

There are many other microcontrollers and microcontroller platforms available for physical computing. Parallax Basic Stamp,

Netmedia's BX-24, Phidgets, MIT's Handyboard, and many others offer similar functionality. All of these tools take the messy details

of microcontroller programming and wrap it up in an easy-to-use package. Arduino also simplifies the process of working with

microcontrollers, but it offers some advantage for teachers, students, and interested amateurs over other systems:

Inexpensive - Arduino boards are relatively inexpensive compared to other microcontroller platforms. The least expensive version of

the Arduino module can be assembled by hand, and even the pre-assembled Arduino modules cost less than $50 Cross-platform -

The Arduino Software (IDE) runs on Windows, Macintosh OSX, and Linux operating systems. Most microcontroller systems are

limited to Windows. Simple, clear programming environment - The Arduino Software (IDE) is easy-to-use for beginners, yet flexible

enough for advanced users to take advantage of as well. For teachers, it's conveniently based on the Processing programming

environment, so students learning to program in that environment will be familiar with how the Arduino IDE works. Open source and

extensible software - The Arduino software is published as open source tools, available for extension by experienced programmers.

The language can be expanded through C++ libraries, and people wanting to understand the technical details can make the leap

from Arduino to the AVR C programming language on which it's based. Similarly, you can add AVR-C code directly into your Arduino

programs if you want to. Open source and extensible hardware - The plans of the Arduino boards are published under a Creative

Commons license, so experienced circuit designers can make their own version of the module, extending it and improving it. Even

relatively inexperienced users can build the breadboard version of the module in order to understand how it works and save money.

 They can work in hazardous conditions, such as poor lighting, toxic chemicals, or tight
spaces.
 They are capable of lifting heavy loads without injury or tiring.
 Robots increase worker safety by preventing accidents since humans are not performing
risky jobs.
 Workcells provide safety features, separating the worker from harms way.

The list of the advantages of robots does not end there; they have also created jobs for workers. Many people believe the

misconception that robots have taken away jobs from workers, but that is not necessarily true. Robots have created new jobs for

those who were once on production lines with programming. They have pulled employees from repetitive, monotonous jobs and put

them in better, more challenging ones

EMBEDDED SYSTEM PROJECTS

If we look around, we will find ourselves to be surrounded by computing systems. Every year millions of computing
systems are built destined for desktop computers (Personal Computers, workstations, mainframes and servers) but
surprisingly, billions of computing systems are built every year embedded within larger electronic devices and still goes
unnoticed. Any device running on electric power either already has computing system or will soon have computing
system embedded in it.

Today, embedded systems are found in cell phones, digital cameras, camcorders, portable video games, calculators,
and personal digital assistants, microwave ovens, answering machines, home security systems, washing machines,
lighting systems, fax machines, copiers, printers, and scanners, cash registers, alarm systems, automated teller
machines, transmission control, cruise control, fuel injection, anti-lock brakes, active suspension and many other
devices/ gadgets.

A general-purpose definition of embedded systems is that they are devices used to control, monitor or assist the
operation of equipment, machinery or plant. “Embedded” reflects the fact that they are an integral part of the system. In
many cases, their “embeddedness” may be such that their presence is far from obvious to the casual observer.

An embedded system is an engineering artefact involving computation that is subject to physical constraints (reaction
constraints and execution constraints) arising through interactions of computational processes with the physical world.
Reaction constraints originate from the behavioural requirements & specify deadlines, throughput, and jitter whereas
execution constraints originate from the implementation requirements & put bounds on available processor speeds,
power, memory and hardware failure rates. The key to embedded systems design is to obtain desired functionality
under both kinds of constraints.

CHARACTERISTICS

a) Embedded systems are application specific & single functioned; application is known apriori, the programs are
executed repeatedly.

b) Efficiency is of paramount importance for embedded systems. They are optimized for energy, code size,
execution time, weight & dimensions, and cost.

c) Embedded systems are typically designed to meet real time constraints; a real time system reacts to stimuli from
the controlled object/ operator within the time interval dictated by the environment. For real time systems, right answers
arriving too late (or even too early) are wrong.

d) Embedded systems often interact (sense, manipulate & communicate) with external world through sensors and
actuators and hence are typically reactive systems; a reactive system is in continual interaction with the environment
and executes at a pace determined by that environment.

e) They generally have minimal or no user interface

The Raspberry Pi is a series of credit card–sized single-board computers developed in the UK by the Raspberry Pi Foundation with

the intention of promoting the teaching of basic computer science in schools.

The original Raspberry Pi and Raspberry Pi 2 are manufactured in several board configurations through licensed manufacturing

agreements with Newark element14 (Premier Farnell), RS Components and Egoman. These companies sell the Raspberry Pi

online.[8] Egoman produces a version for distribution solely in Taiwan, which can be distinguished from other Pis by their red

colouring and lack of FCC/CE marks. The hardware is the same across all manufacturers.

The original Raspberry Pi is based on the Broadcom BCM2835 system on a chip (SoC), which includes an ARM1176JZF-S 700

MHz processor, VideoCore IV GPU, and was originally shipped with 256 megabytes of RAM, later upgraded (models B and B+) to

512 MB.The system has Secure Digital (SD) (models A and B) or MicroSD (models A+ and B+) sockets for boot media and

persistent storage.

In 2014, the Raspberry Pi Foundation launched the Compute Module, which packages a BCM2835 with 512 MB RAM and an eMMC

flash chip into a module for use as a part of embedded systems. The Foundation provides Debian and Arch Linux ARM distributions

for download. Tools are available for Python as the main programming language, with support for BBC BASIC (via the RISC OS

image or the Brandy Basic clone for Linux), C, C++, Java,[16] Perl and Ruby.

As of 8 June 2015, about five to six million Raspberry Pis have been sold. While already the fastest selling British personal

computer, it has also shipped the second largest number of units behind the Amstrad PCW, the "Personal Computer

Word-processor", which sold eight million. In early February 2015, the next-generation Raspberry Pi, Raspberry Pi 2, was released.

The new computer board is initially available only in one configuration (model B) and features a Broadcom BCM2836 SoC, with a

quad-core ARM Cortex-A7 CPU and a VideoCore IV dual-core GPU; 1 GB of RAM with remaining specifications being similar to

those of the previous generation model B+. The Raspberry Pi 2 retains the same US$35 price point of the model B, with the US$20
