Good morning/ afternoon/ evening the honorable judges, respected guest,

all the participants of this competition.

I feel priviledged to be standing here in front of everyone today to be
delivering a speech about climate change. I will deliver this speech in 3
main points. First on what is climate change, second on why it is
important, and lastly on what we can do as a comunity against climate
change.
Climate change refers to a broad range of global phenomena created predominantly by burning
fossil fuels, which add heat-trapping gases to Earth’s atmosphere. These phenomena include the
increased temperature described as global warming, but also encompass changes such as sea level
rise; ice mass loss in Greenland, Antarctica, the Arctic and mountain glaciers worldwide; shifts in
flower/plant blooming; and extreme weather events. All the changes have an enormous impact on
the people’s lives and ecosystems. The average global temperature has been raised by 1 degree in
the last 30 years. It has been reported by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) that
average global temperature can be raised by 2 to 8.6 degrees F by 2100. The rate in increasing global
temperature is because of the increasing emissions of heat-trapping gases called green house gases
in the atmosphere, such I mentioned above.

Why is this so important? It is importan for our generation to know this

so that we would all be cautious enough in the way we treat the
environment around us and so that we all are knowlegeable in this topic
that very much influence the way we live everyday. The fact is , human
activities are still major source of climate change such as burning fossil fuels, wood, solid
waste,deforestation,and technological inventions. A huge level of climate change disturbs the
balance of the global ecosystem as well as increases health risks and more heat-related injuries and
deaths. Rising sea levels is a also an example of climate change due to the global warming which in
turn causes flood, drought, promotes danger of malaria and other parasites. In addition, the rising
temperature has different effects in different regions like in some areas it raise water levels and in
some areas it decrease water levels. Freshwater availability is declining all over the world which is a
vital resource of life on this planet. In such a hot environment, it is very hard to grow some crops, like
corn production may reduced by 10 to 30% if the temperature rises by 3.6 degree Fahrenheit.
So, What we can do right now to participate in preventing or reducing the effect fo global warming?
There are many effective methods to prevent the global warming. First of all we need to change our
habits in order to bring some positive changes in our daily life. As a teenager, we are the next
generation that can make a change through the examples Let take action and give example how to
treat our environment friendly and live properly.

The simple thing to do is go for a lot of walk if the distance is colse enough to reach, i nstead of using
our personal means of transport, we should use public transport means like bus, train, etc to reduce
the emission of poisonous chemicals and pollutants to the air. Then, manage our rubish properly.
Avoid buying packaged products in order to avoid generating more wastes and garbage, replace
plastic water bottles with the reusable ones in order to lessen the cost, effort and effects of waste
disposal.We also need to use water sparingly.

Re-plantation is another act that can help the issue. We should not involve in the deforestation and
inform the authority immediately after seeing another one involved. We should follow all the rules
and regulations planned and implemented by the government to reach to the aim and continue the
possibility of healthy life on the earth.
The honorable judges, respected guest, all the participants of this
competition. That’s all I want to share in this occasion, hope it can
motivate us to take a part to prevent global waring.
