Key Points:
Bridging the worlds of indie and mainstream pop with big synths and bigger hooks, Glasgow's electro‐pop trio Chvrches
features singer Lauren Mayberry and keyboardists/vocalists Iain Cook and Martin Doherty. In September 2011, Mayberry,
who previously played with the band Blue Sky Archives and holds a law degree as well as a master's degree in journalism,
began working with Cook, a former member of Aerogramme and a film and television music composer, and Doherty, a
touring member of the Twilight Sad, when they asked her to sing on some demos they were recording. The sessions went so
well that the trio christened itself Chvrches ‐‐ spelling it with a "v" instead of a "u" to differentiate themselves in Internet
searches ‐‐ and began writing songs inspired by Prince, Depeche Mode, and Kate Bush. Two of these songs, "The Mother We
Share" and "Lies," earned online buzz, and in November 2012, the band released "The Mother We Share" as their debut
single. Late that year, Chvrches were among the acts selected for the BBC's Sound of 2013, ultimately finishing fifth. The trio
began 2013 by playing a few North American dates, releasing the Recover EP and recording its debut album in Cook's
basement studio. After covering Bauhaus' "Bela Lugosi's Dead" for the movie Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters, Chvrches
began working on new material in January 2015 at their own Alucard Studios. Taking inspiration from Quincy Jones' lean yet
massive‐sounding production style, their second album Every Open Eye appeared in September 2015. The album's singles
included a version of "Bury It" that featured Paramore's Hayley Williams. In 2016, the band collaborated with Solar Fields on
"Warning Call," which appeared in the video game Mirror's Edge Catalyst. The following year, Chvrches contributed a cover
of Tegan and Sara's "Call it Off" to the 10th anniversary edition of the duo's album The Con, and went into the studio with
producers Greg Kurstin and Dave Stewart to work on their third album. Boasting a bigger, more straightforward sound than
their previous releases, 2018's Love is Dead included the singles "Get Out" and "My Enemy," a collaboration with the

The calling of doom metal is not for those who seek an easy path to glory. For those drawn to its flame, it is the awakening of Black Sabbath’s dark spirit through
the music that is its own rich reward. And for those elites who truly walk the path of doom, it is a journey without end, a pilgrimage that eventually becomes part
of the traveller’s very bones and being.
For Hampshire doom metal maniacs Witchsorrow, it has become a life’s work. Formed by frontman Necroskull and bassist Emily Witch over a decade ago (later
completed by drummer Wilbrahammer), and with a mission to celebrate the traditions of doom as practiced by such puritans as Black Sabbath, Cathedral, Saint
Vitus, Trouble and Candlemass, across three albums their hymns to the void have earned them a place among the genre’s elite. Obsessed with doom, proudly
upholding the heavy metal roots of the genre, and with a lyrical outlook that takes in madness, misanthropy, witchcraft, evil, and no less a topic than the
destruction of the Earth itself, the trio are as much about the worship of doom as they are pouring scorn on a world of stupidity that wilfully runs ever faster
towards its own demise.
Witchsorrow’s first two albums – 2010’s self‐titled debut, and 2012’s apocalypse‐summoning God Curse Us – saw their name spread quickly through the metal
underground as a band upholding the good (or bad?) name of doom, without meandering into sludge tedium, or post‐metal pretentiousness. One can almost
hear the leather and bullet belts beneath the riffs, as the spirit of doom’s forebears courses through the songs. But it was with 2015’s Candlelight debut, No Light,
Only Fire, that Witchsorrow truly came into their own, proudly channelling the spirit of Judas Priest and Celtic Frost alongside the established doom elements.
Quickly, the fire spread, with the band playing across the UK and Europe, including appearances at Desertfest, Bloodstock, Damnation, Stoned From from The the
Underground, and an almighty set to a packed tent at Download.
And as the world continues to live in ever‐more interesting times, a new collection of hymns emerges. Those familiar with the history of witch trials will already
know of the Malleus Maleficarum, the dreaded book by fifteenth‐century Catholic clergyman Henricus Institoris that detailed and endorsed the torture and
extermination of witches by violent means. But, like the album, it also went by another name: Hexenhammer.
Written during a hermetic monastic period following an intense period run of live shows, and recorded as at Skyhammer studio with long‐time co‐conspirator
Chris Fielding (Conan, Primordial, Electric Wizard), the songs find Witchsorrow continuing to explore the dark corners of doom, and illuminate them with the
blinding light of sheer heavy metal forged of the strongest steel. It’s an almost anthemic soundtrack to the end of the world lyrics.
“I’ve always been obsessed with the end of the world,” explains Necroskull. “On previous albums I’ve been wanting it to happen, because I was caught in a very
dark place,. or Oon No Light..., I was almost angry that it hadn’t happened. This time, it’s a massively confusing time moment where we’re basically staring at it
and waiting for it. I have no solutions. There are none to be had.”
If this sounds bleak, it’s meant to. But through the misery and woe that runs through Hexenhammer, there are frequently moments of fist‐in‐the‐air defiance, a
sense that, the end may be nigh, but Witchsorrow aren’t going to go quietly when it comes.
“Our music is miserable and dark,” admits Necroskull, “But we’re a fucking heavy metal band, and that means not taking the world’s nonsense lying down, no
matter how futile everything is. What would Rob Halford do? He’d scream for vengeance, and nobody’s going to stop him. That’s us, but doom.”
If 2018 needs a soundtrack to its madness, Witchsorrow have provided it. Heavier, darker, doomier, and more metal than ever before, one of doom’s leading
lights have made the perfect album for our times.
Beware the Hexenhammer.

The nicest thing anyone has ever – ever – said to Jo Hirabayashi, frontman of Jo Passed, is that
his band’s debut album sounds like “fucked‐up Beatles”. Titled “Their Prime”, the LP does
sound like fucked‐up Beatles. It sounds like, somewhere across an ‘80s universe, Lennon and
McCartney discovered Can and Neu!, and maybe a little Sonic Youth and XTC along the way. It
demonstrates that timeless knack for dreamy melodies – chord progressions that sound like
they were created in a land far, far away. Lyrically, however, it’s imbued with a philosophical

Trick of the Light is due out May 18, 2018 via Roaring Girl Records. For this new album, Sipos recorded with experimental
producer Sandro Perri. The album features a breadth of Canadian talent including Mary Margaret O’Hara and violinist Jesse
Zubot. Often drawing comparisons to Natalie Merchant, Gillian Welch, and Nick Drake, Sipos’ rhythmic fingerstyle guitar
playing is textured and immersive and her true strength lies as a songwriter; shining a tenderly skewed light into the
darkness and drawing the listener into the strange and mystical space occupied by the shadows. Leading a nomadic lifestyle,
Sipos’ spends much of her time touring ‐ whether it be via bicycle, train or canoe.

“When I first started touring in the States, I was spending quite a bit of time driving through Blue Ridge Mountain range.
There was such a familiarity to the place, such a sense of ‘I’ve got to get back to that place I’ve never been before’ (to
borrow from a songwriter friend Buck Meek). It called for such a deep quality of listening. Appalachian music (with its varied
African and European influences) was a huge part of the American folk music revival of course, music that I grew up steeped
in. So there was also a nostalgia for this place that felt so familiar because of the music in my head.” ‐ Blue Ridge by Dana

The ten songs that make up her new album Trick of the Light, travel extensively; to the Blue Ridge mountains of Appalachia,
the Kentucky foothills, the wilds of Tennessee, the rolling hills of Virginia. It is partly by chance and partly by choice that
rural, mountainous regions of the US inform so much of the music, along with the pull of the tides, amateur palm readers,
guiding lighthouses and hurricane season. These are tenuous times and there are gentle, tenuous threads that tie this
evocative collection of sonic stories together.

Key Points:
Bridging the worlds of indie and mainstream pop with big synths and bigger hooks, Glasgow's electro‐pop trio Chvrches
features singer Lauren Mayberry and keyboardists/vocalists Iain Cook and Martin Doherty. In September 2011, Mayberry,
who previously played with the band Blue Sky Archives and holds a law degree as well as a master's degree in journalism,
began working with Cook, a former member of Aerogramme and a film and television music composer, and Doherty, a
touring member of the Twilight Sad, when they asked her to sing on some demos they were recording. The sessions went so
well that the trio christened itself Chvrches ‐‐ spelling it with a "v" instead of a "u" to differentiate themselves in Internet
searches ‐‐ and began writing songs inspired by Prince, Depeche Mode, and Kate Bush. Two of these songs, "The Mother We
Share" and "Lies," earned online buzz, and in November 2012, the band released "The Mother We Share" as their debut
single. Late that year, Chvrches were among the acts selected for the BBC's Sound of 2013, ultimately finishing fifth. The trio
began 2013 by playing a few North American dates, releasing the Recover EP and recording its debut album in Cook's
basement studio. After covering Bauhaus' "Bela Lugosi's Dead" for the movie Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters, Chvrches
began working on new material in January 2015 at their own Alucard Studios. Taking inspiration from Quincy Jones' lean yet
massive‐sounding production style, their second album Every Open Eye appeared in September 2015. The album's singles
included a version of "Bury It" that featured Paramore's Hayley Williams. In 2016, the band collaborated with Solar Fields on
"Warning Call," which appeared in the video game Mirror's Edge Catalyst. The following year, Chvrches contributed a cover
of Tegan and Sara's "Call it Off" to the 10th anniversary edition of the duo's album The Con, and went into the studio with
producers Greg Kurstin and Dave Stewart to work on their third album. Boasting a bigger, more straightforward sound than
their previous releases, 2018's Love is Dead included the singles "Get Out" and "My Enemy," a collaboration with the

appearances on Odd Future‐related recordings ‐‐including Earl Sweatshirt's "epaR," Mike G's "Moracular World" and Award
Tour EP, the Jet Age of Tomorrow's "Lunchbox," and Domo Genesis' "Elimination Chamber∙ ‐‐as well as the 2011 mixtape
Shyne Goldchain. In 2012, the rapper released Winter in Prague, a mixtape issued as a free download with the production
work handled entirely by Michael Uzowuru. A darker, more introspective mixtape, Stolen Youth, arrived in 2013 with a co‐
billing to Larry Fisherman (a Mac Miller alias) and verses from Ab‐Soul, ScHoolboy Q, Mac Miller (as Mac Miller), and
Cutthroat Boyz partner Joey Fatts. Staples then performed as the opening act on Miller's Space Migration tour. Among
Staples' assists in 2013 were verses on Earl Sweatshirt's Doris and Jhene Aiko's "The Vapors.

The rapper continued his steady ascent in 2014 with a fourth mixtape, Shyne Goldchain, Vol. 2, and contributions to
Common's Nobody's Smiling ‐‐ specifically on the key single "Kingdom," as well as on the deluxe edition bonus track "Out on
Bond.

"His debut album, Summertime '06, landed in 2015 with production from Clams Casino and No ID.
It rose to number three on the Billboard R&B/Hip‐Hop chart and was selected as one of the top albums of 2015 on many
notable year‐end lists.

The following summer, Staples released Prima Donna, a seven‐track EP that featured A$AP Rocky and Kilo Kish

The calling of doom metal is not for those who seek an easy path to glory. For those drawn to its flame, it is the awakening of Black Sabbath’s dark spirit through
the music that is its own rich reward. And for those elites who truly walk the path of doom, it is a journey without end, a pilgrimage that eventually becomes part
of the traveller’s very bones and being.
For Hampshire doom metal maniacs Witchsorrow, it has become a life’s work. Formed by frontman Necroskull and bassist Emily Witch over a decade ago (later
completed by drummer Wilbrahammer), and with a mission to celebrate the traditions of doom as practiced by such puritans as Black Sabbath, Cathedral, Saint
Vitus, Trouble and Candlemass, across three albums their hymns to the void have earned them a place among the genre’s elite. Obsessed with doom, proudly
upholding the heavy metal roots of the genre, and with a lyrical outlook that takes in madness, misanthropy, witchcraft, evil, and no less a topic than the
destruction of the Earth itself, the trio are as much about the worship of doom as they are pouring scorn on a world of stupidity that wilfully runs ever faster
towards its own demise.
Witchsorrow’s first two albums – 2010’s self‐titled debut, and 2012’s apocalypse‐summoning God Curse Us – saw their name spread quickly through the metal
underground as a band upholding the good (or bad?) name of doom, without meandering into sludge tedium, or post‐metal pretentiousness. One can almost
hear the leather and bullet belts beneath the riffs, as the spirit of doom’s forebears courses through the songs. But it was with 2015’s Candlelight debut, No Light,
Only Fire, that Witchsorrow truly came into their own, proudly channelling the spirit of Judas Priest and Celtic Frost alongside the established doom elements.
Quickly, the fire spread, with the band playing across the UK and Europe, including appearances at Desertfest, Bloodstock, Damnation, Stoned From from The the
Underground, and an almighty set to a packed tent at Download.
And as the world continues to live in ever‐more interesting times, a new collection of hymns emerges. Those familiar with the history of witch trials will already
know of the Malleus Maleficarum, the dreaded book by fifteenth‐century Catholic clergyman Henricus Institoris that detailed and endorsed the torture and
extermination of witches by violent means. But, like the album, it also went by another name: Hexenhammer.
Written during a hermetic monastic period following an intense period run of live shows, and recorded as at Skyhammer studio with long‐time co‐conspirator
Chris Fielding (Conan, Primordial, Electric Wizard), the songs find Witchsorrow continuing to explore the dark corners of doom, and illuminate them with the
blinding light of sheer heavy metal forged of the strongest steel. It’s an almost anthemic soundtrack to the end of the world lyrics.
“I’ve always been obsessed with the end of the world,” explains Necroskull. “On previous albums I’ve been wanting it to happen, because I was caught in a very
dark place,. or Oon No Light..., I was almost angry that it hadn’t happened. This time, it’s a massively confusing time moment where we’re basically staring at it
and waiting for it. I have no solutions. There are none to be had.”
If this sounds bleak, it’s meant to. But through the misery and woe that runs through Hexenhammer, there are frequently moments of fist‐in‐the‐air defiance, a
sense that, the end may be nigh, but Witchsorrow aren’t going to go quietly when it comes.
“Our music is miserable and dark,” admits Necroskull, “But we’re a fucking heavy metal band, and that means not taking the world’s nonsense lying down, no
matter how futile everything is. What would Rob Halford do? He’d scream for vengeance, and nobody’s going to stop him. That’s us, but doom.”
If 2018 needs a soundtrack to its madness, Witchsorrow have provided it. Heavier, darker, doomier, and more metal than ever before, one of doom’s leading
lights have made the perfect album for our times.
Beware the Hexenhammer.

The nicest thing anyone has ever – ever – said to Jo Hirabayashi, frontman of Jo Passed, is that his band’s debut album sounds like “fucked‐up Beatles”.
Titled “Their Prime”, the LP does sound like fucked‐up Beatles. It sounds like, somewhere across an ‘80s universe, Lennon and McCartney discovered
Can and Neu!, and maybe a little Sonic Youth and XTC along the way. It demonstrates that timeless knack for dreamy melodies – chord progressions that
sound like they were created in a land far, far away. Lyrically, however, it’s imbued with a philosophical longing for answers to questions that have
resurfaced for the first time since the explosion of counterculture in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

So Dead Tired are releasing the third EP in a series of three creatively named Vol. Three. It varies slightly from the Self Titled full length
that was released sort‐of two years ago. That full length was well received but it is important to note this new release definitely sounds
better and the songs certainly have more of a gnarly groove to them (whatever that means). Let’s be honest, it is very difficult trying to
explain what it sounds like. Music is so subjective unless you’re Elvis. When you are your own genre (like Elvis) you sound like yourself.
When you’re a punk band of crotchety 30 somethings, you sound like whatever musical influences the listener has been exposed to. Baby
Boomers and those who specifically prefer top 40 jams usually can’t tell the difference between Dead Tired, Rage Against The Machine,
Nirvana, or Converge. It is all “too loud.” If you try really hard, you’ll find traces of Dolly Parton and Devo on this EP (if that’s your thing).

This isn’t to say they’re ungrateful. They continuously cite tremendous support from friends and family, a label who listens and solid
pals/fans who make each show entirely worth it. This EP is something to be proud of.

These dinks aren’t reinventing the wheel; they’re just trying to rip it before they RIP for good.

Trick of the Light is due out May 18, 2018 via Roaring Girl Records. For this new album, Sipos recorded with experimental
producer Sandro Perri. The album features a breadth of Canadian talent including Mary Margaret O’Hara and violinist Jesse
Zubot. Often drawing comparisons to Natalie Merchant, Gillian Welch, and Nick Drake, Sipos’ rhythmic fingerstyle guitar
playing is textured and immersive and her true strength lies as a songwriter; shining a tenderly skewed light into the
darkness and drawing the listener into the strange and mystical space occupied by the shadows. Leading a nomadic lifestyle,
Sipos’ spends much of her time touring ‐ whether it be via bicycle, train or canoe.

“When I first started touring in the States, I was spending quite a bit of time driving through Blue Ridge Mountain range.
There was such a familiarity to the place, such a sense of ‘I’ve got to get back to that place I’ve never been before’ (to
borrow from a songwriter friend Buck Meek). It called for such a deep quality of listening. Appalachian music (with its varied
African and European influences) was a huge part of the American folk music revival of course, music that I grew up steeped
in. So there was also nostalgia for this place that felt so familiar because of the music in my head.” ‐ Blue Ridge by Dana

The ten songs that make up her new album Trick of the Light, travel extensively; to the Blue Ridge mountains of Appalachia,
the Kentucky foothills, the wilds of Tennessee, the rolling hills of Virginia. It is partly by chance and partly by choice that
rural, mountainous regions of the US inform so much of the music, along with the pull of the tides, amateur palm readers,
guiding lighthouses and hurricane season. These are tenuous times and there are gentle, tenuous threads that tie this
evocative collection of sonic stories together.

Overview:
Based on Ian McEwan's novel of the same name, On Chesil Beach opens in 1962 England, where a
young couple (played by Saoirse Ronan and Billy Howle) find their idyllic romance colliding with issues of
sexual freedom and societal pressure, leading to an awkward and fateful wedding night. Written by
BAFTA-winning and Emmy nominated composer Dan Jones, On Chesil Beach’s soundtrack features
