Review:

Our topic last meeting is about Absolute

Value of a number.

So what is absolute value? The numerical value of a number is its value

regardless of the sign.
Right!

The absolute value of any number x is

define as.. It define that:

1 x 1 = x if x is non-negative or x ≤ 0
x if x is negative or x < 0

Which is greater, 3 or 5? Which is of the

two is farther to the right. Ma’am 5 is farther to the right of 0 than 3 or 5 is to
the right of 3 on the number line.
What symbols were going to use? The symbol that are we going to use is like this 5 >
3 or 3 <5 meaning, 5 is greater than 3 or 3 is less
than 5.
All your answer is correct.
Motivation:

Do you know what a sign is? Yes! Ma’am a sign is guide us in a certain place.

Draw some sign that you know?

Right very good..

In math we need also to follow a sign so

give some sign that we use in math.?
+, - , =, <, > ,{ }, [ ], %
That is some mathematical sign.

Lesson Proper:

Give the rule in adding two numbers

having the same sign? To add two numbers having the same sign, find the
sum of their absolute values and prefix the common
sign.

To add two numbers with different signs, get the

How about two numbers with different different of their absolute value and prefix the sign
sign? of the number having the greater absolute value.

Drill

Where going to have a group activity to

day so group yourselves into 5 group.

Group 1

Use the number line to find the sum of the

following integers.

1. 4 + 8

2. 5 + (-6)
3. -10 + 5

4. -2 + (-5) + 4

5. -3 + 13 + (-4)

Group 2

Use the number line to find the sum of

the following integers.

1. 4 + (-4)

2. 6 + (-2)

3. -4 + -4

4. 6 + (-3 ) + (-3)

5. -7 + 5 + (-2)

Group 3

Use the number line to find the sum of

the following integers.

1. 2 + (-7)

2. 8 + 8

3. -1 + 8
4. 6 + 8 + (-9)

5. 2 + (-5) + (-7)

Group 4

Use the number line to find the sum of

the following integers.

1. -10 + 7

2. 0 + 5

3. 9 + (-7)

4. 7 + (7) +(-8)

5. 9 + (-8) + 7

Group 5

Use the number line to find the sum

of the following integers

1.(-8) + 9

2. (-6) +(-6)

3. (-8) + 6
4.(-3) + 8 + (-7)

5. (-7) + (-9) +(-8)
