Outline for Research Paper

a. Start with an attention grabber: a short story, example, statistic, or
historical context that introduces the paper topic
b. End the introduction with a CLEAR THESIS STATEMENT. A thesis
statement gives your main idea and three supporting reasons/methods.
i. Thesis statement format:
1. X is necessary because of A, B, and C.
2. A, B, and C are important for X students because of Y.
ii. Example thesis statements:
1. Effective instruction of students with the Perceiving MBTI
indicator should include the use of open-ended questions,
exploratory learning activities, and interactive leadership
opportunities.
2. The use of music in classroom instruction is crucial
because it accelerates learning, stimulates brain activity,
and facilitates verb acquisition.

b. Provide the supporting evidence and explain
c. Discuss application of this point

a. Restate the THESIS STATEMENT in different words
