Fourth Sunday of Easter

Like Jesus the Good Shepherd, Christian families do not run away and abandon each
other when the wolves of life attack. Faith, loyalty, standing firm and sacrificing our
lives for each other builds bonds that can withstand any challenge. In fact, solidarity
in struggles makes families stronger.
411 Holy Hours were kept before the Blessed Sacrament this past week.
“Could you not watch one hour with Me?” These words of Our Lord to the
Apostles apply to us today. Jesus is present in the tabernacle in our
churches and He wants us to visit Him to tell Him of our joys, hopes and
sufferings. A Holy Hour of prayer before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is a
recognition of His wondrous presence and a channel of graces for ourselves, for the
whole Church, for the entire world. We can adore Him really present in the tabernacle
exposed in the Monstrance, thank Him for His goodness, seek forgiveness for sins and
ask Him for all our needs. (Excerpt from the Book, I the Lord am with you Always) We
have 5 Holy Hour Vacancies; Sunday 1-2pm,1-2am,2-3am, Tuesday, 10-11am and
Wednesday 11-midnight. Please call 330-690-9661

St. Augustine School is accepting enrollment for the 2018-19 school year. St. Augustine offers
a small-school environment with a rigorous academic curriculum rooted in Catholic teaching
that will prepare your child for success in high school and beyond. For parishioners who feel
we are not an affordable option, we accept the EdChoice Expansion Scholarship. This is an income-based
scholarship from the state that covers tuition for students in kindergarten through fifth grade if your
income is within 200% of the federal poverty line. For example, if your family of four makes $50,200 or
less you would qualify for this scholarship, which would follow your son or daughter through high
school. For more information, or to schedule a tour, call the school at (330)753-6435.

Come and join fellow parishioners for a few hands of Euchre, Friday, May
11 beginning at 6:30pm. (Bring a side dish or snack to share, drinks will be
provided). We will be taking a break over the summer and will start back
up on Friday, September 7.

St. Augustine Preschool is now enrolling for our Toddler, Preschool and Latchkey Programs as
well as for our fabulous Summer Program. Feel free to call and schedule a tour time to view
the school, meet the teachers and observe the classrooms. We are looking forward to
hearing from you soon! For additional information contact Kathleen Bogdan at 330-745-
5735.

Thank you to all who donated items and helped to sew dresses for
donation. Because of your talents and treasures we were able to send 140
dresses to Africa, the homeland of Fr. Dismas Byarugaba from
Annunciation Church/Visitation of Mary Parish. If you would like to sew
dresses or little boy’s shorts, please call Judy at 330-753-1609.

Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist are pleased to announce the 50th Wedding
Anniversary Celebration. Mass will be held Sunday, July 30 beginning at 2:30pm at
the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist. Registration this year is online. Couples
are encouraged to register at www.ccdocle.org/mfm at your convenience. The deadline is
Monday, June 25 in order for couples’ names to be included in the Booklet. This date is firm.
Early or Mid-July, confirmation letters will be mailed along with instructions, maps and
driving/parking directions. Many Blessings!
In keeping with Diocesan requests, all parishes in the Diocese of Cleveland are to use the
same sung Mass setting. The St. Frances Cabrini Mass setting was incorporated into our
Masses in January. The weekend of April 14 & 15 we inserted the new Gloria, which is #908
in your Music Issue. Please be patient during the transition period.

Have you made your Confirmation yet? It is feasible that some adults have
not received the Sacrament of Confirmation for one reason or the other. St.
Augustine would like to invite adults who have not been confirmed to consider
doing so this year. Fr. Bill Browne is inviting all Catholic men and women who
have already been baptized, made your First Confession and have received your
First Holy Communion to work with him to get ready to be confirmed here at St. Augustine
Church on Sunday, June 3 at 10:30. Preparation will be held in the Rectory, date to be
determined. Please contact the rectory (330-745-0011) if you wish to be included in the
Confirmation preparation.

2018 First Step Programs: Continuing Education Regarding Marriage and Divorce in
the Catholic Church. Attempting to pick up the pieces of one’s life after the tragedy of
divorce is an area that can impact a person’s relationship with God and the Church.
One of the significant issues that a person faces is their place in the Church. The
Tribunal of the Diocese of Cleveland offers its First Step Program to help individuals
deal with these questions in order to renew and/or strengthen their relationship with
God and the Church. Mark your calendars for a general First Step Meeting Tuesday,
September 18 at 7:00pm – St. Ambrose Parish, 929 Pearl Road, Brunswick. For more
information check the website: www.dioceseofcleveland.org/tribunal or call the
