privately outside Curtiss’ office. When Sculley and Curtiss returned they asked the victim if she wanted
to press charges. At that time, the victim didn’t understand what that meant and told them both no.

help, Sculley tells the victim that she has seen this behavior in a lot of the students at East High School

reached out to other Deans for support. The victim and her parents, told each of those Deans about the

frustration to her Dad and he scheduled a meeting with Dean Sinclair.
The victim, and her parents met with Dean Sinclair. Vice Principal Jann Peterson was in attendance as

‘The victim tells both Dean Sinclair and VP Peterson the systemic bullying that resulted from the Sex
Assault. Vice Principal Peterson got choked up and told the victim and her parents that it was one of the
‘worst story of bullying she has ever heard.
‘During the meeting, Former Principal Andy Mendelsberg stepped in said he was checking on the victim
to see if she was okay.
Dean Sinclair told the victim that if she can prove the bullying he would step in and help.
‘The following day, the victim took at least a dozen printed out screenshots of text messages and social
media posts and the names of the students who were bullying her for reporting the sex assault. Dean
Sinclar filed the paperwork away in acabinet and did not act.

just more traurnatizing for others and to find new friends already.
In addition, Curtiss told the victim that if she had contact with the suspect, she would be disciplined for
harassing him.
During the week of March 23, 2036 another student reported to Curtiss that the victim was struggling,
‘and Curtiss followed up again. She promised the victim she would meet with her weekly and did not.
{In December 2016, the victim was called to Curtiss’ office to talk about the stress of finals and not the
Jent with the bullying or the assault. The victim tells Curtiss she is still being bullied and tells her she
wants to switch schools, Curtiss tells the victim she is running from her problems. The victim recalled
during this time, she went to Curtiss’ office and she was sobbing uncontrollably. She told Curtiss she
couldn't take the bullying any longer and was still having nightmares of the assault. Curtiss told the

‘Approximately one week later, parents are contacted by the school and told that Former Principal Andy
‘Mendelsberg will not allow them to pull thelr daughter out. They immediately schedule a meeting with
him,
‘Mendelsberg opens the meeting and tells the parents he had to ask SEER who their
daughter was because he didn’t know her.
Parents sald they are incredulous and tell Mendelsberg they cannot believe he is not aware of the
situation with their daughter because It has been going on for over a year.
Parents re-tll the entire story to Mendelsberg from the beginning. They tell him about the sex assault
and how the school did nothing other than remove the other student from a mutual class. They told
Mendelsberg and about the continued and relentless bullying for which the administration did nothing,
Mendelsberg tells the parents this is all “new news” to him and he had not heard about it from another
dean or teacher. He tells parents to have their daughter find a new group of friends to hang out with.In September 2017, the victim, and her parents saw a news story about mandatory reporting and.
