1. An experiment has 3 possible mutually exclusive outcomes A, B and C. Check whether


following assignment of probability is correct or not
(i) P(A) = 0.3, P (B) = 0.4, P(C) = 0.34 ,(ii) P (A) = 0.5, P (B) = 0.1, P(C) = 0.5
(iii) P (A) = 0.4, P (B) = 0.64, P(C) = - 0.04, (iv)P (A) = 0.2, P (B) = 0.3, P(C) = 0.5.
2. Examine the consistency of following statements.

7. A box contains 4 bad and 6 good tubes. Two tubes are drawn at random. One of them is tested
and found to be good, what is the probability that other one is also good?
8. A and B are two bags containing 5 black, 6 white and 8 black, 4 white balls respectively. Two
balls are transferred from B to A and then a ball is drawn from A, what is the probability that
this ball is white?
9. If two events A and B are independent, then show that

10. Two students A and B work independently on a problem. The probability that A will solve is 3/4,
while that of B is 2/3. If both try to solve the problem, what is the probability that problem will be
solved?
11. Obtain the probability mass function and cumulative distribution function of a random variable
