0 INTRODUCTION

Nowadays, the process of washing the clothes until the clothes are folded illustrated in figure,
the process start with the automated clothes washing machine and proceed with the manual
hanging and manual folding. There are some disadvantages in the process. Firstly, the manual
clothes folding is time consuming. Besides it needs a lot of concentration when folding clothes.
Moreover, if we have a cupboard to store the clothes, some clothes that we need to wear it often
or everyday will be take times to find the clothes.

Throughout human history, engineering has driven the advance of civilization. From the
metallurgists who ended the Stone Age to the shipbuilders who united the world’s peoples through
travel and trade, the past witnessed many marvels of engineering prowess. As civilization grew, it
was nourished and enhanced with the help of increasingly sophisticated tools for agriculture,
technologies for producing textiles, and inventions transforming human interaction and
communication. Inventions such as the mechanical clock and the printing press irrevocably
changed civilization.

In the modern era, the Industrial Revolution brought engineering’s influence to every niche of
life, as machines supplemented and replaced human labor for countless tasks, improved systems
for sanitation enhanced health, and the steam engine facilitated mining, powered trains and ships,
and provided energy for factories. In the century just ended, engineering recorded its grandest
accomplishments. The widespread development and distribution of electricity and clean water,
automobiles and airplanes, radio and television, spacecraft and lasers, antibiotics and medical
imaging, and computers and the Internet are just some of the highlights from a century in which
engineering revolutionized and improved virtually every aspect of human life.

For all of these advances, though, the century ahead poses challenges as formidable as any
from millennia past. As the population grows and its needs and desires expand, the problem of
sustaining civilization’s continuing advancement, while still improving the quality of life, looms
more immediate. Old and new threats to personal and public health demand more effective and
more readily available treatments. Products and processes that enhance the joy of living remain a
top priority of engineering innovation, as they have been since the taming of fire and the invention
of the wheel. In each of the broad categories of sustainability, health, vulnerability, and joy of
living — specific grand challenges await engineering solutions in improving quality of life.
Products that enhance Joy of Living remain top priority in engineering innovation.

This project was purpose to design and fabricate the portable and fordable clothes hanger.
This project involves designing and fabricating the clothes hanger. We as a team will create a
clothes hanger that is easy to used and store when not used because, nowadays people having a
problem to store and carry the clothes hanger. To fulfill the requirement for BFC23702 Creativity
and Innovation subject for the project, we are assigned to form a group of five and think of problem
related to the above statement of the problem to produce product that enhance joy of living remain
top priority in engineering innovation. This project need a lot of skills such as cutting wood process

1.2 Name and Logo of Group

Figure 1.2.1 Company’s Name and Logo

Our group named is Casa Innovation. The word ‘casa’ is came from Spanish word which
means home. On the other hand, the word innovation is an English word which means something
that we create from the ideas that turning into practical. Therefore, Casa Innovation means creating
the ideas that turning into practical of home product basis. The logo that we created as shown in
Figure 1.2.1 has the meaning behind it. The ‘H’ alphabet and roof sign present in the logo are both
act as a symbol that represent home. For the four rectangular shape symbol located below the roof
sign are represent window for the home. Hence, we as a Casa Innovation group will work as a
team in producing any product related to home matter with elements of innovation and creativity.
For the color of the logo, we have chosen brown color because most of the product that we
created are made by woods as a main material. This logo represent that we are committed in
producing the best solution to our customers about house matter. It also shows that we value our
customers so much by provide a quality, efficient and effective products. Our slogan “Together
We Produce Solution” was chosen as the best way to advertise product provided by the Casa
Innovation.

1.3 Tagline and Name of Product

In entertainment, a tagline (altenatively spelled tag lie) is a short text which serves to clarify
a thought for, or is designed with a form of, dramatic effect. Many tagline slogans are reiterated
phrases associated with an individual, social group, or product. As a variant of a branding slogan,
taglines can be used in marketing materials and advertising. The idea behind the concept is to
create a memorable dramatic phrase that will sum up the tone and premise of an audio/ visual
product or to reinforce and strengthen the audience’s memory of a literary product.

Product naming is the discipline of deciding what a product will be called, and is very
similar in concept and approach to the process of deciding on a name for a company or
organization. Product naming is considered a critical part of the branding process, which includes
all of the marketing activities that affect the brand image, such as positioning and the design
of logo, packaging and the product itself. The process involved in product naming can take months
or years to complete.

After we as a Casa Innovation team have done several discussions, meetings and working
on this projects within four months, we finally had came up with a new product with its best suited
tagline. This is the information of the product:-

Tagline: “Inspiring Innovation, Creating Extraordinary Product”

2.0 PROBLEM STATEMENT

2.1 Background

Nowadays, it seems be almost universal among busy people such as mother and student.
We don’t mind doing the laundry, but most of us hate folding it and putting it away. It’s probably
not practical to stop folding all the clothes. Depending on your wardrobe and what the rest of your
family wears on a daily basis. What do very old homes and small, ultramodern apartments
sometimes have in common? A troubling lack of closet space. In these types of situations, you
have to deconstruct the way you think about storage. You’re going to literally live with your
decision, so home decor and design become part of the equation. so, to solve the problem regarding
the folding clothes and space we come out to produce the product named “Clothesline at the wall”.

There a lot of clothes line and cupboard are used. However, there are no clothes line that
can save space and at the same time can use as rack or in other words we called it multifunction
that available for household usage. The product that we produce have more advantages over the
other similar product in the market. The first reason is the product not required a large floor space.
Secondly, the product is less expensive rather than the other for the household usage. Finally, the
product is save your time from folding all the clothes.

This are problem statements that our group identified:

1. Lack of space.
2. Take more time to fold the clothes.
3. Cost.

2.2 Objective

1. To design and develop a prototype of Clothes Line at the Wall for household usage.

2. To minimize the problem of lacking of space at home due to cupboard present.

3. To produce a product that is interesting with elements of creative and innovative.

2.4 COMPARATIVE STUDY

The XXXXX product is a multifunction product used as a clothesline,

cupboard and at the same time can be used as a rack. This product is one of the
innovation that our group made for solving the problem of lacking space. This is
because, people nowadays need to buy lot things to store their needs but they have
problem in space and it is costly. Usually the type of materials that can placed at
this product is clothes, vase, books and so on. This product is made up of wood as
a main material.
Physically, this product consists of 10 block of panels. When we want to
use is as cloths line or rack, we need to open the panels and if we not use it anymore,
the panel can be closed and we can save the space. On the other hand, if we want
to use it for two function at the same time, we can open it half for clothesline
function and the other half is for a rack or cupboard function. This innovation of
product finally can solve the problem to put all of the things like clothes, books and
vase at one place. In terms of load that can be carried, this product can carry is
around 5 to 7 kilograms depends on the strength of the wood used for the materials.
The characteristics of the product are:
a) Multifunction
b) User friendly
c) Lightweight
d) Durable
e) Not corrosive
f) Green product
g) Can make it yourself (DIY)

3.0 IDEA GENERATION AND REFINEMENT (INNOVATION PROCESS)

3.1 IDEA GENERATION

Since recently, we as students always faced problem either at home or hostel
on there are a lot of space used to store our things such as clothes, books and so on.
However, we are not having so much space to used. In this situation, we are not
only having a problem but we also affecting others. As a student, when we are
living at the place that not have a wide space to move at the surrounding area, we
will become uncomfortable.
From that situation, we came out with the idea on decorating the wall house
as a medium that can be used as a clothesline, rack and cupboard. Where the buyer
will no need to buys lot of things like clothesline, cupboard and rack. Plus, the most
importantly it can save the space used and it is multifunction product. So, the
XXXX product is the solution of this problem. What is the XXX product? The
XXXXX product is a multifunction product used as a clothesline, cupboard and at
the same time can be used as a rack. The product is multifunction.

3.3.1 METHOD OF DATA COLLECTION

To carry out a project, data collection is essential aims to launch a project of work
and to avoid any problems. Data collection was made by collecting information
related to the project which will be conducted as information material production.
3.3.2 THE PREPARATION OF THE MATERIAL

3.3.3 WORK PROCESS

i) Thermoelectric plates uses the Peltier effect to create a heat flux between
the junctions of two different types of materials. A Peltier cooler, heater,
or thermoelectric heat pump is a solid-state active heat pump which
transfers heat from one side of the device to the other, with consumption
of electrical energy, depending on the direction of the current1. To achieve
this function, thermoelectric plates affixed to the bottom of the pot with
Thermally Conductive Glue which is important in reduces thermal strain
to prevent performance loss or failure of electronic components2.

ii) In order to facilitate the flow of electricity to the electricity generator,

wiring is done at the appropriate connection. However, before the wiring
can be done, the electricity generator shall be placed in the gap that is
placed on top of the pot to prevent the effects of excessive temperature on
the electricity generator.

iii) So that, Power pot can be used afterwards

.
4.0 SOLUTION

4.1 Existing Solution and Innovation

Since recently, we always served with news of people lost in the forest before being found
by the fire department a few days later after that. They have a telecommunication device
such as android in enabling them to communicate when lost in the forest, but the limited
battery power source to cause difficulty to get the location of the way home. This problem
makes us think about how the problem can be solved. The battery of android is going to
run out when we do a camping in the forest? How can we charge our android in that place
without the electricity?

There is no other way to solve this problem except by applying the conservation of
the electricity from the thermal energy. So, Casa Innovation group have planned to design
a pot with the application of thermal electricity with the materials that can transfer heat
energy to electricity. This product was origin form the innovation fo the combination
between the kitchen items and electricity materials.
4.3 The Features
We have designed a product which is not available in local market. We have to design a new
product of power-pot which uses thermoelectric generator and this product have a multifunction
purposes includes when we need the electric energy for camping.

4.4 The function

The XXX product combines the benefits of multifunction product to store the things such
as clothes, books and vase in one place. It can help to solve the space, cost and time used
problems.

Store you all the things

including clothes, books
and vase in one place.

The function of
the XXX product

It can be a clothesline, rack or

even a cupboard at the same
time. It is three in one function.
5.0 CONCLUSION

As the conclusion, all the objectives of the project have been achieved. The prototype and
design of xxx product were completed. We as a team successful to hands on and participating in
this project. During the process of making the product, we faced with the several problems about
the dimension of the product. We are having difficulties on choosing the right dimension at first
but finally we had overcome the problem after having discussion among us with our lecturer, Mr
Mohamad Bin Ismail. Thanks to him.

The characteristic of the product explains how useful it is. We are success to produce a
multifunction, user friendly, lightweight, durable, not corrosive, green product and can do it
yourself (DIY). We as students, can finally find the way how to store all the things of clothes,
books, vase in one place. In this situation, we can save the space, cost and time used. Although the
product has a lot of benefits but it also has the disadvantages like it easy to decay. In order to
overcome that disadvantages, we recommend to replace material from wood to steel.

Last but not least, we as a Casa Innovation team hope that our project can become
inspiration to other product consumer to create more innovative product in the future. We also
hope that our customer will satisfied when using this product because we believe the product can
help them to solve their problem particularly in storage of things.

innovation. Innovation creates new demand and engineer brings the innovation to the market.

There are have advantages about our product but we also have the disadvantages that can
be solve to make our product to be more selected over existing clothesline in the market. For
example, the improvement that can be make is making the clothesline by using the steel. So that,
we can maximize the load capacity to fold the clothes.
