Course Description:
Welcome to Economics! In this class, students will gain an understanding of economic principles,
systems, and activities, in order to fully participate as a citizen in the U.S. Free Enterprise System. This
focus is on the basic principles concerning production, consumption, and distribution and services in
the United States and a comparison with those in other countries around the world. Students will also
explore personal financial planning tools to prepare them for real-life situations.

Week 3: Economic Decision Making Week 13: Life after High School
Week 4: Gains from Trade Week 14: Consumer Awareness
Week 5: Demand and Supply Week 15: Bargain Shopping
Week 6: Markets, Equilibrium, and Prices Week 16: Investing & Retirement
Week 7: Market Structures and Market Failures Week 17: Insurance
Week 8: Economics Final Week 18: Money & Relationships
Week 9: Personal Finance Introduction Week 19: Taxes
Week 10: Saving Week 20: Finals

All Students Are Expected To:


1. Respect others and their property
2. Come to class on time and prepared
3. Use rated G language only
4. Work hard, be confident and have fun!

Class Policies:

Turning In Assignments: Assignments will be turned in through Schoology and into the class
basket.

Late Work: I will not accept any late work. This reflects “real business world” expectations. If a
student feels that they cannot meet a deadline, they may contact me, and I will work with them.

Excused Absences: One extra day will be given to complete assignments for each day a
student is absent. If work needs to be completed in the classroom, it is the STUDENT’S
responsibility to arrange with me to complete the work and hand it in on time.

Cheating: If caught cheating, both the “cheater” and the “provider” will receive a zero.

Cell phones: Cell phones are only allowed when Mrs. Schultz instructs students to use them for
educational purposes.
Other:
1. Be in your seat when the bell rings.
2. Ask Mrs. Schultz to leave the room.
3. Tardy policy: A student arriving to class after the bell rings without a pass is tardy.

1. A positive attitude and desire to learn new things.
2. Three ring binder

4. Pen, pencil, highlighter
5. Laptop

90-92 A- 70-72 C-
87-89 B+ 67-69 D+
83-86 B 63-66 D
80-82 B- 60-62 D-
77-79 C+ Below 60 F
