TOPIC- SERVOMECHANISM

OBJECTIVE: FAMILIARIZATION OF COMMON DEFECTS OF SERVOMECHANISM AND TROUBLESHOOTING.

DESCRIPTION: The common faults occurred in servo system are as follows:

 There are four types of failure in servo mechanism


 Power failure
 Open circuit
 Short circuit
 Incorrect wiring

 Power failure: a suspected power failure can be checked quite easily by measuring aircraft volts
across the winding of transmitter or check the fuse

 Open circuit: open circuit is either rotor winding will cause the receiver synchro to stick in one
position. If a starter winding had an open circuit the operation would be sluggish.

 Short circuit: it will cause the fuse to blow and the worst component and wiring burn off. This error
ceases operation of the servomechanism.

 Incorrect wiring: this condition usually result in reverse direction.

 Troubleshooting of servo system:


 In case of power failure we should check the system with the help of multi meter. Multi meter is
used to calculate voltage and current.
 In case of open/ short circuit we should check the winding construction.

TOPIC- COMPONENT OF SERVOSYSTEM

OBJECTIVE: FAMILIARIZATION OF COMPONENT OF SERVOSYSTEM

DESCRIPTION: There are various component used in aircraft servo system

 Control element
 Error detector
 Power amplifier5
 Servo meter
 Feedback amp

 CONTROL ELEMENT: it provides the input demand and in directly controls the moment of servo meter which
moves the load.

 ERROR DECTECTOR: it carry out the comparison between the output and input demand and passes the
appropriate error signal to amplifier

 POWER AMPLIFIER: it move the load in such a direction as reduce error signal to zero at which the output is
the same as that demanded by the input.

 FEED BACK ELEMENT: It provides the feedback of load concerning the behaviour of the load to the error
detector to carry out the comparison.
