Les Miserables
1. Fantine is thrown from her job because of her child and is forced to work as a prostitute
in order to pay for her child. Also, that guy was beating Fantine, but when she slapped
him, she got arrested.
2. People do not see everybody as having human dignity. It seems like people only get
treated well if they have money.
3. She is saying that she is already dead inside because she as to be a prostitute now and is
very miserable.
4. Javert is having her arrested for what she did, though Valjean is ready to take her in and
have her taken care of. She would be let go instead of punished.
5. Javert believes that if people mess up in any way, they must be punished. Therefore, he is
ready to be punished because he slipped up, though briefly.
6. He goes to admit that he was the one who is actually Valjean. Also, he takes in Fantine
after she is sick and adopts her child when she dies. In that one scene, too, he tells a
homeless man to get inside because he is concerned about him being outside in the cold.
