Procedures:
Introduction ( 10 minutes): I will begin the lesson by a quick review session on the
previous standards. I will then introduce to the students what we will be learning about the civil
war. I will then explain the agenda of the day and how everything should be done at each station.
I will already have the groups assigned based on their test scores or class performance. The
students who are having the most trouble will be grouped at the teacher directed stations and will
begin with help from me. Students who are somewhat grasping the subject will be grouped at the
collaborative stations. The students who are excelling in the subject will begin in the independent
groups. This should take about 10 minutes.

Teacher Directed (-15 minutes): I will begin the teacher directed station with a brief
video on the reconstruction.

jcY7_xuuUcjS about the reconstruction in the US. I have chosen this video for the students
because it was previously taught in the last standard. Before watching the video I will ask
students to make a KWL chart and complete it as the go along. Once the video is complete we
will have a small discussion about the video and what they have learned from the video.

Collaborative (10 minutes): Students in this group will be playing a matching game with
vocabulary from the lesson. They will do a small reading on the civil war and then they will have
to match the terms laying on the table. The students will then create their own study cards using
quizlet. The students will also create a small quiz composed of questions from each student in
the group. If the students complete their assignment before it is time for them to move on they
are to write one thing they would like to learn about the civil war or one interesting fact they
have already learned.

Independent Digital (25-minutes): In the independent group the students will access the
crash course video about the civil war and the issues it created. Students will take notes at this
station on the video and they will create questions based from the video for them to later answer
and complete.

Closure (10 minutes): the class will meet back on the welcome carpet (middle of the
room) to participate in a class Kahoot game. The students will compete in the review game
answering an estimate of 10 questions. The student who places as top player does not have to
complete the exit slip for the day. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/kahoot-play-learning-

Rationale:
 Kahoot. I chose Kahoot the free app because it is a very common app used to
quiz students in a fun and friendly competitive way. This multimedia is used
in the closing of class.
 The second form of multimedia used is Quizlet. Quizlet is used in the
Collaborative group. This app is highly recommended by teachers and
students as a good way to study and communicate with other students.
 Multimedia 3 is a two videos. I chose these videos because it correlates with
the standards and objectives for the student learning. Crash courses are a
great way to introduce students to new subjects as well as review them.
