Blended Learning Lesson Plan

Lesson Title: Shapes and stuff

Objectives: Students will be be able to assess the different shapes and describe what they look like. Students will be able
to picture the difference between shapes and apply them to drawings. students will be able to list and name different
shapes,

State Standards:
K.G.1 Describe positions of objects by appropriately using terms, including below, above, beside, between, inside, outside,
in front of, or behind.
K.G.2 Identify and describe a given shape and shapes of objects in everyday situations to include two-dimensional shapes
(i.e., triangle, square, rectangle, hexagon, and circle) and three-dimensional shapes (i.e., cone, cube, cylinder, and sphere).
K.G.5 Draw two-dimensional shapes (i.e., square, rectangle, triangle, hexagon, and circle) and create models of three-
dimensional shapes (i.e., cone, cube, cylinder, and sphere).

Context: I am teaching this lesson to further their knowledge on shapes to install how to draw and define them. Before this
lesson students will have been introduced to shapes, what they look like and what they are called. Students will bring their
previous knowledge of basic shapes. After this lesson, different, more complicated shapes will be introduced and the use of
dimensions will be understood. In this lesson I am teaching the fundamentals of shapes and dimensions.

Materials:
1. Signs or posters in class room featuring the different shapes.
2. Computer and projector - to show a video in class to introduce and refresh the names and shapes of the shapes.
3. computer for each student - to play the Kahoot game on
4. video clip - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQ5mZIInE6s
5. notebook and pens/pencils for the students to record notes and practice drawing the shapes.
6. flash cards - with the shapes on them for the students to practice in groups
7. Kahoot - I will make and present a kahoot for them to quiz the students at the end of the lesson on what they have
absorbed.

Detailed paragraphs from here on down.

Procedures:
Introduction (5 minutes): the intro will be very quick, I will point to the signs or posters in the classroom and make sure
the students are able to see the different shapes and hear their names.

Teacher Directed (10 minutes): I will show a video about the shapes, and instruct them to watch and mark down any they
do not know or haven't heard of, I will then take these notes and compare them to the end to see what they learned
Collaborative (20 minutes): In groups they will go over flash cards with each other, this group work will help them
understand and explain what the know and don't know to each other.

Independent Digital (10 minutes): Each student will independently play a kahoot game I made, which scores will not be
shared with others but solely for them to know what they know.

Closure (5 minutes): I will compare their scores on the Kahoot to what their personal notes say they didn't know
beforehand this will help me know what they have learned and what we need to work on.

Rationale:
(Kahoot: It is multimedia because it is used on the computer. It support learning and the standards by showing what the
students have learned and letting me know if they have accomplished what they should, It is high quality because I have
used it many times before with good results,
(SHapes video=: This is multimedia because I is on the computer. It supports the standards and objectives by teaching
along with the given standards. We know it is high quality because of it good feedback nd the positive role of videos in the
classroom.
