4 Circuits lab 2 name:

Objective: To study current, resistance, and voltage through circuits in series and parallel. To be
completed in groups of two or three (one writeup per group!).

Snap circuit kits have project books that will guide you in the building of circuits. Build the projects
below to answer the questions that follow.

Series Circuits: Project #5
1. A) Using the correct symbols, draw the circuit if the switch was on.
B) What do you observe?

2. Using the multimeter, move the dial to 20 V. Measure the voltage by holding both the black and red leads
between the ends of:
a. The source
b. Each load

3. What did you notice about the voltage readings? Make some connections.

4. Using the multimeter, move the dial to 20 Ω. Measure the resistance by holding both the black and red leads
between the ends of:
a. The source
b. Each load

5. What did you notice about the voltage readings? Make some connections.

6. Using Ohm’s law, and the multimeter readings, calculate the current for:
a. The source
b. Each load

Parallel Circuits: Project #6
7. A) Using the correct symbols, draw the circuit if the switch was on.
