"5 Financial Moves That Can Make You A Millionaire In 10 Years." National Debt Relief. N.p.,

29 Dec. 2016. Web. 08 Apr. 2018.

This article is relevant to my inquiry as it is focused on the financial actions and

mental qualities that we can have to maximize financial success. It helped me by telling

me that a good focus to have in the first portion of our journey is to make as much money

as possible. It also brought up the idea that investing in yourself is also a big focus, and

that we need to make sure that being educated and trained is a big portion of this fight to

financial freedom. I was also reminded that you always aim higher than your target. The

source will help me move forward as it supported the idea that a majority of earning,

saving, and investing money is your mindset, and that is how you will become free.

This online article was published by the National Debt Relief. While there is little

knowledge of the exact author, the NDR is a highly reputable organization with a strong

background in finance and economics. The founder of the organization is Tom Leydiker.

Leydiker is a skilled investor and entrepreneur and has spent over a decade studying

multiple different sectors of finance including: banking, real estate, and mercantilism.

The company has been ranked A+ from the BBB (Better Business Bureau).

Guillebeau, Chris. The $100 Startup: Reinvent the Way You Make a Living, Do What You Love,

and Create a New Future. N.p.: Crown Group, 2012. Print.

This book was increasingly intriguing and relevant to my inquiry, (Credit and thanks to

Mrs. Jizi). It focused on small businesses and startups and the characteristics that

foreshadowed success. The companies Guillebeau focused on were passion-driven, low

startup cost, made at least $50,000 in net profit, required no special skills, and had less

than five employees. It outlined different startup paths, the requirements to start them,

and the methods to make them successful. This information pushed me to research more

into startup companies, as I had previously shrugged them off due to difficulty, expense,

and required active involvement. It also supported the idea that there are infinite paths to

financial freedom, you just have to pick one or a few.

The $100 Startup was written by Chris Guillebeau, a known blogger and author on

entrepreneurship. He is known for his blog and books on living self-employed and the

successes of companies which started from next to nothing. He himself has been self-

employed for a majority of his life. His writing also refers to many sources who have

built companies up from an idea with a small investment that are now highly successful

corporations.

Lynch, Peter, and John Rothchild. Learn to Earn: A Beginner's Guide to the Basics of Investing

and Business. N.p.: Fireside, 1995. Print.

Learn to Earn by Peter Lynch and John Rothchild was a significant source in my

inquiry. The book broke down the term "investing" into the most basic categories and

went into detail about each category. It gives a general knowledge about long-term
Johnson 3

savings accounts and similar alternatives, real estate and the investment in owning a

home, bonds and their advantages and disadvantages, and it breaks down stock exchange

into its different aspects. I used this knowledge to calculate the most efficient manner, in

term of interest and rate of growth, for long term and short-term investments and their

returns.

The book is authored in part by Peter Lynch, an investor in the American stock

market, long term mutual fund manager, and has written multiple books on the topics

around investing. The co-author, John Rothchild, is a writer who has extensive history

writing on finance and investing. He was also the editor of Washington Monthly and

columnist for Time and Fortune. The publishing company for the book is Fireside which

is trademarked by Simon & Schuster Inc which has published a multitude of books by

reputable authors including: Stephen King, Jackie Collins, and F. Scott Fitzgerald. Simon

& Schuster is a subsidiary of CBS Corporation which is a large commercial broadcasting,

publishing, and television producing company which has no evident ulterior motives

other than informative. The only caveat being that the book was published in 1995,

making its information slightly outdated, thought the concepts are generally up to date.

Perez, Edgar. The Speed Traders: an Insider's Look at the New High-Frequency Phenomenon

That Is Transforming the Investing World. McGraw-Hill, 2011.

The Speed Traders focuses on the "phenomenon" of speed trading, also known as

high-frequency trading or day trading. This is one of the big options on how you could

invest your money for an increased output. This book gave me a look through the

perspective of many of the investors who have already been successful through day
Johnson 4

trading. I was able to see the methods they used and the paths that they took as they

paved their ways into this journey. I was also able to see some of the mistakes that they

made. This will help me in my pursuit of an efficient method to early retirement because

it showed me different ways I could use to utilize this highly efficient method of income.

It also supported my idea that day trading is a possible method to that retirement.

The book is authored by Edgar Perez who has written multiple books on

investing, high-frequency trading, and finance. Perez also has a Masters in Management

from Universidad ESAN, and a M.B.A. in Finance and Management from Columbia

Business School. Along with his credentials, he has also been a consultant for many

companies including IBM, and McKinsey & Company. The publishing company is

McGraw Hill Companies. McGraw Hill has an extensive history in publishing many

academic textbooks ranging over a large education spectrum. It is a subsidiary of S&P

Global, which focuses on financial information and analytics. S&P Global also has many

subsidiaries such as Standard & Poor's, SNL Financial, and McGraw Hill Companies.

Through the author's credentials and S&P Global's investment in education of finance

and analytics, along with the book being published in 2011, make it a credible source of

information.

Sykes, Timothy. "10 Ways to Become a Millionaire in Your 20s." Entrepreneur. N.p., 04 Feb.

2016. Web. 08 Apr. 2018.

The article is relevant due to the methods in which Sykes uses to become a millionaire.

He states that in order to be as successful as possible, you need to focus on the boring

niches. He formally recognizes that you must make sacrifices in your social life in order

to succeed in your financial life. Supporting the NDR's "5 Financial Moves That Can

Make You A Millionaire In 10 Years.", he states that you need to aim higher than your

goal, and once you hit that goal, you need to set a new one. A point he makes that helps is

that you don't need the next big idea, just build a better mousetrap. This source will be

very useful in the mental aspects required in order to meet my goal.

Timothy Sykes has a bachelor's degree in philosophy and a focus in business from Tulane

University. He is known for investing an initial amount of $12,415 into different stocks

including penny stocks and day trading and turning that into $1.65 million before he

turned 21. He has been showcased in many known publications and has started a highly

successful hedge fund. He has also taken apprentices under his wing and has led many

into apparent fortune using the same methods that he made his fortune on.
