Subject: Democrat Richard Cordray Continues to Hold Strong Lead Against Republican Mike
DeWine

Date: May 8, 2018

A new Public Policy Polling survey finds that Democrat Richard Cordray continues to hold a strong

lead against Republican Mike DeWine in the general election race for Ohio Governor. Cordray held a

9-point advantage (47/38) over DeWine in April and currently leads by 5 points (44/39). In April,

Trump’s approval was quite low at 44% with a majority (52%) disapproving. Trump’s approval now

sits at 48% with 47% disapproving.

Key findings from the survey include:

- Cordray continues to hold a lead against DeWine among a wide array of demographics

including a majority of Hillary voters (77/10), Democrats (70/17), African-Americans (61/27),

women (51/33), as well as a plurality of whites (42/41), Independents (45/27), voters age 46-65

(48/36), and voters older than 65 (44/39).

- DeWine, on the other hand, is only winning 65% of Trump voters (65/16), despite embracing

the president’s extreme agenda through millions of dollars in TV ads.

conducted by automated telephone interviews.
