The width of a scaffold measured at right angles to the ledgers from the
centre of the standards. Some times designated by the number of boards
within the standards.

LENGTH
The length of the scaffold between its extreme standards, sometimes
designated by the number of bays..

BAYS
The space between the centre lines of two adjacent standards along the face
of a scaffold

LlFT HEIGHT
The vertical distance between the main horizontal members which are callea
ledgers.

FOOT LlFT
A lift erected near the ground to give the base of the scaffold greater strength.
It is also used to set out the base of the scaffold.

SOLEBOARDS.1 SOLE PLATES

A suitable length of timber to spread the load.

BASEPLATE
Used to spread the load from standards and rakers

STANDARD
A vertical tube

LEDGER
Horizontal tube which supports the transoms

TRANSOMS
A tube fixed across the ledgers which may support the board.

BRACE
A tube fixed diagonally across the scaffold
Ledger Brace: The brace that keeps standards vertical to and from the
building
Sway Brace: Prevent scaffokls moving left and right.

RAKERISPUR
An inclined bearing tube
