CIPRIANO  WINS  REPUBLICAN  AND  CONSERVATIVE  PRIMARIES
IN  49TH  ASSEMBLY  DISTRICT

Brooklyn,  NY  (September  15,  2010)  –  First  time  candidate  Peter  Cipriano  was
elected  the  Republican  candidate  for  New  York  State  Assembly  in  the  49th  Assembly
District  with  over  61%  of  the  vote  Tuesday  night,  defeating  the  sitting  district  leader
of  the  49th  Assembly  District,  Lucreatia  Regina-‐Potter.    Cipriano  also  handedly
secured  the  Conservative  Party  line,  defeating  both  Regina-‐Potter  as  well  as
incumbent  Assemblyman  Peter  Abbate,  who  were  contesting  the  Conservative  line
via  write-‐in  campaigns.

“These  wins  show  people  want  something  new,”  Cipriano  said.    “The  Republicans
and  Conservatives  of  our  community  see  our  need  for  new  voices  in  government,
and  I  intend  to  share  that  message  with  the  rest  of  community  over  the  next  7
weeks.”

Supporters,  volunteers,  friends,  family,  and  party  loyalists  joined  Cipriano  at  his
campaign  headquarters  at  76  Street  and  17th  Avenue  as  returns  came  in.      In  a
speech  to  the  crowd,  which  spilled  out  of  the  store  front  office  and  onto  the  street,
Cipriano  thanked  his  family  for  their  support.    Kings  County  Republican  Chairman
Craig  Eaton,  and  State  Senator  Marty  Golden  both  voiced  their  enthusiasm  and
support  of  Cipriano  and  praised  his  victory.

Cipriano  is  a  life  long  resident  of  South  Brooklyn  having  been  born  and  raised  in
Bath  Beach.    He  is  running  on  a  platform  based  on  common  sense  government,
reigning  in  out  of  control  state  spending,  growing  jobs,  supporting  small  businesses,
and  addressing  the  over  bearing  tax  burden  weighing  down  our  communities.
Cipriano  is  running  as  a  fresh  new  voice  and  the  answer  for  voters  tired  of  a  system
weighed  down  by  entrenched  incumbents  and  moneyed  special  interests.

Under  the  Republican  and  Conservative  party  lines,  Cipriano  will  face  off  against
Democratic  incumbent  Peter  Abbate  in  the  general  election  on  November  2nd.    Polls
will  be  open  from  6am  to  9pm.
