porciones: ciego, colon y recto.

Mouth: is a cavity through which food enters the body. In the mouth begins the digestion, where the food is
crushed by the teeth (chewing) and moistened by the saliva (insalivation), forming the food bolus.
Pharynx: is a muscular tube that connects the digestive system with the respiratory. It has a valve called the
epiglottis, which closes the airways during swallowing.
Esophagus: a muscular tube that connects the pharynx with the stomach. It is usually a virtual cavity, that is, its
walls are joined and only open when the bolus passes.
Stomach: is a muscular organ whose function is the decomposition of food. On the upper part it communicates
with the esophagus, and on its lower part, with the intestine; This communication is carried out by means of
muscular openings that control the entry and exit of the food called sphincters.
Small intestine: it is a muscular tube where the absorption of food is carried out; communicates the stomach
with the large intestine. It consists of three parts: duodenum, jejunum and ileum.
Large intestine: is a muscular tube where water and mineral salts are absorbed, in addition to stool storage
until its expulsion; communicates the small intestine with the anus. It consists of three parts: blind, colon and
rectum. Learn more about the parts of the Large Intestine.
Ano: is the terminal orifice of the digestive system, through which the waste materials of digestion (faeces)
leave the body.
