Statement From Senate Democratic Leader Andrea Stewart-

Cousins On Republican Member Items Resolutions
“The Senate Republicans are more focused on political power than serving New Yorkers, and
that is unacceptable. We cannot support hyper-partisan funding resolutions for organizations
that are exclusively chosen by Republican Senators with aid overwhelmingly going to
Republican districts. The Republicans’ cynical move of assigning aid to women’s health and
criminal justice groups while spending the entire Legislative Session blocking and voting against
the Reproductive Health Act, Comprehensive Contraception Coverage Act, bail reform, speedy
trial reform, and other meaningful proposals is shameful. New Yorkers deserve real leadership
from the State Senate, and that clearly won’t happen so long as the Senate Republicans are in the
Majority.”
