National Finance Competition 2017

Mechanics

Date: March 4, 2017 (Saturday)

Time: 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM

COMPETITION GUIDELINES

I. QUALIFICATIONS

A. Each school may send one (1) team comprising of three (3) members.

B. All interested participants are required to pay a registration fee amounting to:

 Php 500 – all members of the team are JCFAP Members

 Php 700 – 2 JCFAP Members, 1 JCFAP non-member

 Php 900 – 1 JCFAP Member, 2 JCFAP non-members

 Php 1,200 – all members are JCFAP non-member

C. Each team must be composed of Junior and/or Senior students with at least
15 units in the course of Finance.

D. The organizing body reserves the right to disqualify a team from the
competition if they fail to meet entry qualifications.

E. In case that a chapter will not have at least four (4) participating schools, each
school can send a maximum of two (2) teams for the competition. The
approving body shall be the nine organizing chapters.

F. All JCFAP officers are not allowed to join.


II. REQUIREMENTS

A. Registration form jointly approved and signed by the school’s chairperson and
dean.

B. Duly accomplished registration form must be submitted to


jcfap.nfc@gmail.com (cc: chapter president and external vice president)
with the subject Chapter_School (ex. NCR_UST).

C. Deadline of submission is on February 18, 2017.

D. Only the first 20 teams to submit complete forms shall be accepted by the
committee. No substitution of participants will be allowed once the form has
been received.

E. Payment procedures will be sent immediately thru e-mail, and shall be


collected by the assigned JCFAP chapter officer/s.

III. COMPETITION RULES

A. The contest is a team competition. Contestants must be at the site of the


competition proper at least thirty (30) minutes before their scheduled time,
together with their adviser(s) and/ or coach(es). The team is only allowed to
have up to two (2) advisers/coaches with them.

B. Team with incomplete members ten (10) minutes before the start of the
competition will be considered in default.

C. The competition shall consist of pool of questions covering the following areas
of interest:

IV. FORMAT AND TIME LIMIT

A. The questions will be divided into three rounds: Easy, Average and Difficult
Round.

*For computations, there will be an additional 50% from the time limit based on
the round included.

B. Every after round, there will be a five-minute break that will be allotted to show
the current team standings (for Easy and Average rounds). The advisers or
coaches can approach the team during this break.

C. A recap shall include the name of the school and the score garnered for that
particular round, announced in ascending order.

D. The scores garnered by the teams in the Difficult Round shall not be
announced immediately; rather, it would be announced before the official
proclamation of the winners.

V. MATERIALS

A. Only one (1) scientific calculator will be allowed per team. The organizers
have the right to accept or reject the use of certain calculators.

B. For fairness, the organizers will reset all the calculators before the
competition starts. All gadgets must also be surrendered to the organizing
team.

C. Fill in the blanks

VII. VALIDITY OF ANSWERS

A. All answers must be clearly and properly shown at the cue of the quizmaster.
Failure to do so will render such answers invalid.

VIII. COMPLAINTS OR PROTESTS

A. Protests and queries must be filed by any of the team members actively
participating and brought to the attention of or addressed to the Board of
Judges prior to the next question.

B. Any reaction about the validity of the question must be supported by specific
published references. Photocopied materials/references will not be accepted.

C. The decision of the Board of Judges is final and all participating teams must
abide by its decision. The student raising the question or protest must do so
with the appropriate decorum, bearing in mind that he or she is addressing
persons of authority.

D. The Board of Judges has the prerogative to penalize any unacceptable


behavior of the contestants via point deductions. Teachers, coaches and
school officials are all barred from raising questions and/ or protests.
IX. DRESS CODE

A. Participants must wear either their school uniform or business attire with
school ID.

X. WINNERS

A. The teams will be ranked based on their final scores. First four (4) teams who
earned the highest final scores shall be awarded with the following:

 Over-all Champion (among all chapters)


– Php 5,000.00 and Plaque of Recognition

Regional Winners:

 1st Prize – Php 3,000.00 cash and medals

 2nd Prize – Php 2,000.00 cash and medals

 3rd Prize – Php 1,000.00 cash and medals

XI. DISQUALIFICATION

The following shall be the grounds for disqualification (but will not be limited to):

A. Cheating or copying the answer of other contestants


B. Using resource materials or cheat sheets during the competition
C. Using technical equipment such as mobile phones, extra calculators, and
electronic devices during the contest proper.
D. Entertaining, soliciting, and/or cueing answers from the audience and/or
coach/adviser.

* All matters that may arise during the competition but is not covered by this set
of guidelines shall be decided upon by the organizers and Board of Judges.
