enfatizar.
También podemos utilizar los adjetivos después de verbos de estado y sensación como to be (ser), to seem
(parecer), to look (parecer) & to become (volverse).
Italy is beautiful.
ALGUNAS EXCEPCIONES
I want to see the people involved. Quisiera ver a las personas implicadas. It was an involved discussion. La
discusión ha sido detallada y compleja.
Here is a list of the people present at the meeting.
The present situation is not sustainable. La situación actual no es sostenible.
I need to see the man concerned by this accusation.
A concerned father came to see me today.

as + adjetivo que indica la cantidad + (nombre) + as
nombre.
NOMBRES CONTABLES
Utilizamos as many y as few con nombres contables.
EJEMPLO
They have as many children as we do.
We have as many customers as they do.
Tom has as few books as Jane.
There are as few houses in his village as in mine.
You know as many people as I do.
I have visited the States as many times as he has.
I have three brothers. That's as many as you have. ("brothers" se sobreentiende)
NOMBRES INCONTABLES
Utilizamos as much y as little con nombres incontables.
EJEMPLOS
John eats as much food as Peter.
Jim has as little patience as Sam.
You've heard as much news as I have.
He's had as much success as his brother has.
They've got as little water as we have.
I'm not hungry. I've had as much as I want. ("food" se sobreentiende)
COMPARAR CANTIDADES DESIGUALES
Para comparar cantidades desiguales, utilizamos la construcción :
adjetivo que indica la cantidad + (nombre) + than

nombre.
NOMBRES CONTABLES
Utilizamos more y fewer con nombres contables.

EJEMPLOS
The bus moved slowly.
The bears ate greedily.
The car drove fast.
EJEMPLOS
You look absolutely fabulous!
He is slightly overweight.
You are very persistent.
EJEMPLOS
She played the violin extremely well.
You're speaking too quietly.
Basic basically
Tragic tragically
economic economically
Ciertos adverbios son idénticos a los adjetivos: early, fast, hard, high, late, near, straight,
wrong
EJEMPLOS EJEMPLOS
It is a fast car. He is a good student.
He drives very fast. He studies well.
This is a hard exercise. She is a good pianist.
He works hard. She plays the piano well.
We saw many high buildings. They are good swimmers.
The bird flew high in the sky. They swim well.
Well es el adverbio que corresponde al
adjetivo good.
EJEMPLOS
John looked around but he couldn't see the monkey.
I searched everywhere I could think of.
I'm going back to school.
Come in!
They built a house nearby.
She took the child outside.
"HERE" Y "THERE"
behind Hurry! You are getting behind. Let's hide behind the shed.
down Mary fell down. John made his way carefully down
the cliff.
off Let's get off at the next stop. The wind blew the flowers off the
tree.
on We rode on for several more hours. Please put the books on the table.
over He turned over and went back to sleep. I think I will hang the picture over my
bed.
EJEMPLOS
I would like to go somewhere warm for my vacation.
Is there anywhere I can find a perfect plate of spaghetti around here?
I have nowhere to go.
I keep running in to Sally everywhere!
particular.
EJEMPLOS
Cats don't usually walk backwards.
The ship sailed westwards.
The balloon drifted upwards.
We will keep walking homewards until we arrive.
EJEMPLOS
He walked towards the car.
She ran towards me.
EJEMPLOS
The child went indoors.
He lived and worked abroad.
Water always flows downhill.
The wind pushed us sideways.
EJEMPLOS
He swims well.
He ran quickly.
She spoke softly.
James coughed loudly to attract her attention.
He plays the flute beautifully. (después del complemento de objeto)
He ate the chocolate cake greedily.
EJEMPLOS
He ate greedily the chocolate cake. [erróneo]
He ate the chocolate cake greedily. [correcto]
He greedily ate the chocolate cake. [correcto]
He gave us generously the money. [erróneo]
He gave us the money generously. [correcto]
He generously gave us the money. [correcto]
EJEMPLOS
The child ran happily towards his mother.
The child ran towards his mother happily.
EJEMPLOS
The town grew quickly after 1997.
He waited patiently for his mother to arrive.
que modifican: well, badly, hard, & fast
EJEMPLOS
He swam well despite being tired.
The rain fell hard during the storm.
Ejemplo Significado
She quickly agreed to re-type the letter. Muestra su acuerdo rápidamente.
She agreed quickly to re-type the letter. Muestra su acuerdo rápidamente.
She agreed to re-type the letter quickly.
He quietly asked me to leave the house.
He asked me quietly to leave the house.
He asked me to leave the house quietly.
EJEMPLOS
He gently woke the sleeping woman.
She angrily slammed the door.
EJEMPLOS
Slowly she picked up the knife.
Roughly he grabbed her arm.
USO DE "TOO"
menos directa.

EJEMPLOS
EJEMPLOS
He has certainly forgotten the meeting.
He will probably remember tomorrow.
He is definitely running late.
EJEMPLOS
Undoubtedly, Winston Churchill was a great politician.
Certainly, I will be there.
Probably, he has forgotten the meeting.
EJEMPLOS
Surely you've got a bicycle.
Surely you're not going to wear that to the party.
be. A
