The Beats Go on: Book Launch of "Bittersweet, a Coming of Age Historical

Novel"

A Novel capturing the Beatnik Zeigeist of 1960.

Reno, NV, July 19, 2018 --(PR.com)-- Book Launch: July 31, 2018, at Vesuvio Cafe, 255 Columbus
Ave., San Francisco, CA. 7-9 PM

Sugarhill Press is proud to announce the publication of "Bittersweet," Lloyd Free's latest novel. This
historical romance could be a sequel to "On The Road" as it revives the feel (or vibe) of the Beat presence
in North Beach, San Francisco, circa 1960: Kenneth Rexroth reading poetry to jazz at the Cellar
nightclub, cops wielding billy clubs and fire hoses on the rampage at San Francisco City Hall during the
House on Un-American Activities Committee hearings, and the Paris of the Beat Hotel where Ginsberg
and Bourroughs, among others, called home while they lived off and on in Paris in the late 1950's and
early 60's. Lloyd deftly weaves a star-crossed love story through actual places and events enriching the
historical context.

“Highly Entertaining! Escape!...A real treat for readers who wish to revisit San Francisco in the 60's, the
beatnik era, and Francophiles alike.”
- Cathy Turney.

“In the Spirit of 'On the Road,' 'Bittersweet' is an account of a youthful odyssey of innocence,
inexperience...a very touching and entertaining story with a historic perspective.”
- William Pizza
