Dear Friend,
Despite what you may have heard, I am still your Assemblywoman and I am running for
re-election- in November. You can vote for me on the [ndependence Party and the Working
Families Party lines on the ballot on Election Day, November 2,2010.
I have worked very hard for you for the past 10 years and consistently voted for
legislation based on what my constituents want and need from me. I have not been a part of
the dysfunction in Albany and have worked hard to change it. Too many legislators just vote
"yes" consistently on the floor ofthe New York State AssembLy, but not me. I know I've made a
difference with many of my colleagues because f've lead by example with many following. my
lead by voting against le.gislation that helps New York City alone, and not Long Island.
The campaign that was waged against me in the Primary last week was one of
character attacks and misinformation. Iwill not fat the mudslinging deter me. Now, more than
ever, I need your help.
As a taxpayer living on Long Island, I know we pay enormous taxes, which is why I
have consistently voted against tax increases throughout my six years serving. in the Assembly.
(sponsored legislation to repeal the MTA tax - a tax that hurts businesses, municipalities,
schools and not-for-profits. Irefused to vote for the biggest budget in the history of New York
State, which increases taxes and fees and included massive borrowing.
Earlier this year, Istood up to New York State United Teachers union leaders
(NYSUT), asking them to accept a logical, common-sense solution to save 14,000 teachers'
jobs by freezing their raises for one year, which is why they targeted me in the primary~
Teachers have thanked me for my actton as they were fearful that the Governor's cuts woutd
make them lose their jobs. Itried to be reasonable, protect jobs and preserve education.
Nevertheless, NYSUT wanted to make me Public Enemy #1. They are not going to bully me and
I am not backing down. I am go~ng to continue to offer solutions that protect taxpayers and
serve the interests of the residents of the 5th Assembly District.
Let's show the special interests that Assembly Members who have the courage to
buck the system need to be re-e/ected and the dysfunction needs to be destroyed. Not
only do I need your monetary support, but I also will need your vote and (if you are not in the
district) the votes of your friends and family in November on the Independence line and Working
Families Party line.
ft you want to help me to continue the fight, resume the struggle and wage the
war to take back our state. then I need your help now. I am enclosing a self-addressed
envelope so that you can send whatever donation you can afford (large or smaU) so that [ can
continue to serve as your New York State Assemblywoman.
Please send your donation to: "CITIZENS FOR GINNY FIELDS" now. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Ginny Fields
New York State Assemblywoma
