There have been various objectives for this study, the first of which is to gather practical
knowledge.
The second objective, however the most important one or in other word the principle aim of
this report is the understanding and extending knowledge in Project Management &
Appraisal.
Methodology of the study
This report based on both primary and secondary data. Initially, the work is started with data
those were available at company’s annual report and company’s news letter. Moreover it
becomes helpful to gather some more information from the website of the company.
Latter on the work progressed through some depth interviews of good range professional
trying to heat some expected area of the study. After that an effective questionnaire is design
to collect likely data from the target of people. We highlight different important things which
we found during our survey. After doing all of those we submit the report to the proper
authority.
The Bangladesh economy after struggling in the beginning of 2014, mostly due to the
political disturbances, recovered well and grew at 6% plus. Gains made in agriculture,
services, foreign trade and remittances helped achieve this growth despite the fact that
industrial growth slumped in 2014. Inflation based on Consumer Price Index declined from
7.6% in January 2014 to 6.99% in December 2014 with a fall in food prices being the
primary factor. Strong export growth and inward remittance from abroad helped to push the
foreign exchange reserve to a record US $ 22 billion.
The exemptions on pharmaceutical product patents granted to the least developed countries
are set to expire by end of 2015. In February this year, the LDCs led by Bangladesh, applied
for extension of the exemption period till their graduation from the LDC status. It should be
noted here that, WTO-TRIPs council in 2013 granted extension of the general exemptions to
the LDCs for protecting IP rights for a period of 8 years till July 1, 2021. The issue of
granting exemption on pharmaceutical products patent is likely to be extended as well.
In absence of any significant changes in the government policy on public spending for
healthcare, growth in demand for pharmaceutical products will continue to be driven mostly
by increased private spending backed up by the country’s steady economic growth and
increased health awareness of the people. Additionally, Bangladesh has established a strong
base for manufacturing pharmaceutical products and the industry has earned reputation as
manufacturer of quality medicine. Thus there is opportunity for the companies to achieve
accelerated growth through exports. The reemergence of political instability remains a risk to
maintaining growth going forwards.
Introduction
Subject like Pharmacy demands practical knowledge in the own field. Thus industrial training
program is one of the most important parts of a students studying in a dynamic subject like
Pharmacy. For gathering complete knowledge about pharmacy there is no alternative for In-
plant or industrial training program which has to be accomplished by every student of
pharmacy after his/her final year (B.Pharm.) examination. This training is conducted by the
pharmaceutical industries in our country. By this training, each pharmacy student can achieve
vast experience; can correlate the theoretical knowledge with the practical experience. Thus
he/she can develop him/herself completely for pharmacy related job. To take part in such
type of training program I have been selected for The Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd.

Manufacturing Facilities
The main manufacturing site is spread across a 22-acre area located near the capital city,
Dhaka, which houses facilities for manufacturing tablets, capsules, intravenous fluids,
liquids, creams, ointments, suppositories, metered dose inhalers, ophthalmic drops, large
volume parenterals, sterile ophthalmic, prefilled syringes, lyophilized injectables etc. The site
has its own utility infrastructure to ensure adequate generation and distribution of electricity
with an installed capacity of 10 MW, besides having water purifying and liquid nitrogen
generation facilities. Their penicillin units (both API and formulation) are located separately
at Kaliakoir, 21 km from the main site.
Research & Development
Their product development team continues its strong research orientation in formulation
development to transform BPL into a truly international one. As a generic drug company
They have given top priority in building and strengthening capabilities to excel in
formulating technologically complex products in order to create strong differentiation. Their
R&D team develops a wide range of generic products including difficult to copy formulations
in defined specialty areas. They have successfully developed multi-layer tablet, sustained
release formulation, dispersible tablet, CFC-free inhalers, prefilled syringes, lyophilized
injectables, sterile ophthalmic etc. They have made a number of submissions with EU and US
regulatory authorities while there is a growing pipeline of submissions for the regulated
markets. Their research and development activities are closely focused on market needs and
driven by technological progress. A new, state-of-the-art research lab is being set up to
facilitate the development of innovative and difficult products with a focus to create unique

prestigious National Export Trophy (Gold) a record five times for outstanding contribution to
export. The company has a geographic footprint in more than 50 countries with visible and
growing presence in regional markets of Asia and Africa, and other emerging markets. BPL
has a clear strategy to capitalize on the generic drug opportunities in overseas markets and it
has become the first Bangladeshi company to export medicines to regulated markets of USA
and Australia, besides supplying sterile ophthalmic products to Europe. Recently it has
entered the gulf market with the launch of products in Kuwait. The company is currently a

Pharmaceutical Company Business Plan – Executive Summary
FM3-BD Pharmaceuticals, LLC is a licensed and standard FM3-BD Pharmaceuticals
manufacturing company that will be located in an industrial area in Bangladesh. We have
been able to secure a long-term lease agreement for a facility in a strategic location with an
option of a long-term renewal on an agreed terms and conditions that is favorable to us.
The facility has government approval for the kind of production business we want to run and
the facility is easily accessible and we are deliberate about that because we want to facilitate
easy movement of raw materials (chemicals and packaging containers) and finished products
(drugs / medicines).
We will manufacture standard and effective pharmaceutical products such as mental health
and lipid regulators, anti diabetics and respiratory, pain and antibacterial, nervous system
disorders and antihypertensive, antiulcer ants and thyroid, dermatological and hormonal
contraceptives, and ADHD and anticoagulants.
We are also in business to make profits at the same to give our customers value for their
money; we want to give people and businesses who patronize our pharmaceutical products
the opportunity to be part of the success story of our brand.
We are aware that there are several big scale and small scale FM3-BD Pharmaceuticals
manufacturing companies scattered all around Bangladesh whose products can be found in
every nooks and crannies of Bangladesh, which is why we spent time and resources to

manager prior to starting FM3-BD Pharmaceuticals, LLC. He will be working with a team of
professionals to build the business and grow it to enviably height.
Our Product
FM3-BD Pharmaceuticals, LLC is going to run a standard and licensed FM3-BD
Pharmaceuticals manufacturing company whose products will not only be sold in Dhaka but
also throughout the Bangladesh. We are in the FM3-BD Pharmaceuticals manufacturing
industry to make profits and also to give our customers value for their money.

Strength:
Part of what is going to count as positives for FM3-BD Pharmaceuticals, LLC is the vast

So also, our state of the art machines and equipment, the wide varieties of pharmaceutical
products that we produce, our large national distribution network and of course our excellent
customer service culture will definitely count as a strong strength for the business.
Weakness:
A major weakness that may count against us is the fact that we are a new FM3-BD
Pharmaceuticals manufacturing company in the Bangladesh and we don’t have the financial
capacity to engage in the kind of publicity that we intend giving the business especially when
big names like Mylan Inc., Sandoz Ltd. and Teva Pharmaceuticals Industries Ltd. et al are
already determining the direction of the market both in the Bangladesh and in the global
market.
Opportunities:
As a result of that, we were able to conduct a thorough market survey and feasibility studies
so as to position our business to take advantage of the existing market for pharmaceutical
products and also to create our own new market. We know that it is going to requires hard
work, and we are determined to achieve it.
Threat:
We are quite aware that just like any other business, one of the major threats that we are
likely going to face are economic downturn and unfavorable government policies. It is a fact
that economic downturn affects purchasing power. Another threat that may likely confront us
is the arrival of a new FM3-BD Pharmaceuticals manufacturing company in same location
where ours is located.
