Materials and Resources


Cart paper, markers, pencils, construction paper, glue, scissors, thankful turkey writing pages, Thanksgiving
words ABC order, iPads, Istation, dictionaries. ABC Dream by Kim Krans.

Management of the Instructional Environment


Students will be in groups working cooperatively while the teacher circulates to correct misunderstandings.
Teacher will use call backs to get the groups attention.
Technology Integration
Istation assignments will be given on their iPad.

Diversity and Equity (Accommodations, Modifications, Adaptations)


Allow students to use a dictionary. Allow extra time for students to complete assignments. Read words orally
for students.

Activities/Procedures
The teacher will begin by calling the students to the carpet for a whole group mini lesson. The teacher will

read the ABC book to the class. While reading the teacher will point out the different pictures on the page
that start with each letter. After reading through the book flip back through the pages asking students to
name some of the objects and their corresponding first letter, write these on a post-it and hand to the
student. Once ever student has a word you will need to explain alphabetical order, words put in order based
on the letters they begin with along with the alphabet.
Explain that to put words in alphabetical order the children should look at the first letter of each word.
Ask the children to put the post-it notes in order on the alphabet chart paper. If a student struggles ask
classmates if they can help.
Once students have had the chance to put the words in alphabetical order introduce the different ELAR
stations to them. Release groups to go to their stations and begin their work.

Station 1: Word work- Thanksgiving Words ABC Order


Station 2: Writing- Thankful Turkey writing pages in their book
Station 3: STEAM- Students will create their own ‘Pete’ the turkey
Station 4: TECH- IStation assignments including alphabetical ordering

The teacher will circulate from group to group to observe and correct misconceptions.
