Racing Summary
Amarnath is one among the few young racers in India who was able to achieve substantial success in his
first year of racing season itself. He is a naturally talented rider, who took to competitive racing for the
first time in the season of 2015, having had his first track day experience only in late 2014. At an early stage
itself Amarnath had developed the skills to feel and understand the bike’s performance and feedback in
each corner, thus able to communicate effectively with the technical team and setup the race bike
properly. He doesn’t leave any stone unturned when it comes to racing and follows his fitness and dietary
regiments strictly. Amarnath had graduated from Apex Racing Academy (completing all three levels), one of
the pioneering and top riding schools of India. The academy gave him the direction and skillset required as
a racer. Amarnath was quite successful in the 2015 Suzuki Gixxer Cup Novice Category (10 races, 8
podiums, 4 wins), which he participated in and came out as second overall in the championship

He was among the two riders that Apex Racing fielded in the 2015 Indian National Motorcycle Racing
Championship or INMRC (Category – Group D or upto 165cc Novice riders). He managed a second place in
one of the races, and was on pole positions or had the best laps in a few other races. Three of his victories
in the category were in vain due to penalties received based on technical regulations, which were beyond
the control of Amarnath as a rider. Rather than sulking about it, he showed his grit and passion, when he
was winning parallel races in Suzuki Gixxer Cup 2015, which were being held in the same race weekends as
that of INMRC. His achievements in his first year of racing, and at a younger age (with respect to Indian
Racing scenario) is highly commendable.

Amarnath’s performance on the track in 2015 earned him a spot on the two member team selected by
Federation of Motor Sports Club India (FMSCI) to represent India in the invitational Thailand round of FIM
Asia Cup of Road Racing (ACRR, Oct 30th – Nov 1st 2015). In 2016, Amarnath had graduated from the
Novice to Expert/Open category in Indian Motorcycle Racing (among the few who do so in the first year
itself). He competed in 2016 Honda CBR 250 Open and 2016 Indian National Motorcycle Racing
Championship (300-400cc, Expert category), testing his mettle and learning from the vastly experienced
riders he competes with. He has finished 2016 season as third overall in the 300-400cc national
championship, on-board a KTM Duke 390. He participated in 6 of the 8 races of the season and has 5
podium finishes to his credit. He also secured a podium finish in CBR 250 Open championship.
Amarnath participated in 2017 season of National Championship under the 300-400cc expert category. He
won five of the nine races and finished 3rd in two other races. In the 9th race, he sealed his first national
championship, when he was crowned winner of the 2017 INMRC 300-400cc supersport expert category. He
is the first national champion to come out of Kerala in the sport of closed-circuit motorcycle road racing. He
has inspired other riders from Kerala to take up the sport, which is otherwise dominated by riders around
Chennai/Coimbatore or from the bigger metros.

Amarnath wishes to pursue his racing career outside India, into the pan-Asian championships and beyond to
further test his mettle and prove his talent. Even though India has a sizeable population and a thriving
automotive industry, the focus on motorsports is minimal, both from the OEMs as well as the media. This
poses a challenge to potential talents in motorsport to be acknowledged for their achievement or to be
supported further in their career. Unlike many other sports, motorsports is cruel as it can kill talents, dreams
and hard work via lack of sponsorship or media coverage alone. Relatively smaller south Asian countries like
Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia etc have a very active motorsport scene, which nurtures talent, improves
investments/tourism and put them on the global map. Amarnath is aware of the challenges that lie ahead of
him but is determined to break through the barriers, and the right support will accelerate the young lad’s
career much further.
