INTRODUCTION

Kathmandu University

Kathmandu University, a non-government non-profit organization is located in the outskirts of Dhulikhel,


Kavre. With a vision of becoming an excellent university devoted to bringing knowledge and technology
to the service of humanity, the university has been dedicated in the field of education for the past 25
years. At present, the University offers various undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate programs in
science, engineering, medicine, management, education, arts, environment, law and information
technology, through School of Science, School of Management, School of Engineering, School of
Medical Sciences, School of Education, School of Law and School of Arts. In addition to more than 4000
students studying in its constituent campuses, 7500 students are in its affiliated colleges. TheUniversity
focuses on the all-round development of the students rather than just the academic courses with other
extra curriculum and co-curriculumactivities.

Department of Mechanical Engineering (DoME)

Department of Mechanical Engineering, located in Kathmandu University Central Campus in Dhulikhel,


Kavre was established on September 2001 A.D. Kathmandu University offers undergraduate,
postgraduate and doctorate programs in the field of Mechanical engineering. Excellently equipped with
required infrastructure demanded by the subject, the department has been providing an exquisite platform
for the students in theoretical as well as practical aspects. Department of Mechanical Engineering has the
state of art facility with Kathmandu University Turbine Testing Lab (KUTTL) and Kathmandu University
Technical Training Center (TTC). The courses and curriculum are as per the international standard in
accordance to meet the international competition faced by the students. Apart from the academics, the
department also encourages the students to participate in seminars, talk programs, exhibitions and other
extra-curricular activities organized within and outside the university.

Association of Mechanical Engineering Students (AMES)

Association of Mechanical Engineering Students, established in 2002 A.D. is a student’s club established
to indulge the students in matters other than the academics. AMES, run by an executive committee of 15
students of the department, serves as a bridge between the students and the departmental officials. The
club is moderated and monitored by the department and organizes various activities like sports, welcome-
farewell, seminars, talk programs, exhibitions and such. It also conducts various programs in
collaboration with other departmental clubs, other mechanical engineering student clubs, governmental
and non-governmental organizations.
Aviyantaa

Aviyantaa is an event of Association of Mechanical Engineering Students. It basically comprises of two


events- release of yearbook and project exhibition.Aviyantaa focuses on developing the extra curriculum
activities of the students by inspiring them in pouring more innovation and creation to their project. Aviyantaa
gives an atmosphere of exposure of the department to the audiences in a way which cannot be achieved via
any othermethods. It also provides a common platform for both the students and the sponsors.

Objectives of Aviyantaa

 To ensure exposure of project performed by the undergraduate students at Department of Mechanical


Engineering, KathmanduUniversity.
 To release of departmental yearbook which mainly consists of project abstracts so that recent findings
and developments at the university may circulate wherever the yearbook reaches.
 To serve as a common platform for creative minds, learners, researchers andsponsors.
 To demonstrate how mechanical engineering dominates our life in simple unnoticeable ways making
our life simpler andeasier.

Proposed: Aviyantaa Park

Aviyantaa Park will be first student park in Kathmandu University premises. This park will be named as
'Aviyantaa' which means engineer. Engineer are people to create new things with new technology. This park
will be containing the project that will focus the subdivision is Mechanical Department. This park will
integrate Khetang Garden and Pelton Turbine area for better use.

Aviyantaa park will not only concern with mechanical engineering department this park will be integrating
other department. Theme of Aviyantaa' 18 is inter departmental interaction. This park will be integrating
relationship between different department for making active participation and involvement of different field
engineering student.

Objective Of Aviyantaa Park

1. To renovate area of Kathmandu University increasing student participation.


2. To advertise the departmental subdivision and its multidimensional approach in
university premises.
RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Aviyantaa park will be property of Kathmandu University. Department Of Mechanical
Engineering, Kathmandu University will be responsible for maintenance of the park.
University will be providing financial support for construction. The estimated budget
is presented below.
