This document outlines the rules and regulations pertaining to the Overwatch, DOTA 2 and Fortnite
Tournaments at the Canadian National Exhibition 2018. Failing to adhere to these rules and regulations may
result in disqualification from the competition. Please note that both Waveform Entertainment and the CNE
have the authority to make final decisions that are not specifically delineated in these rules and regulations to
preserve fair play and sportsmanship.
1.0 - CODE OF CONDUCT
● All ejections or disqualifications due to violations of the Code of Conduct or individual game
rules will be without refund.
● No illegal substances inside the venue. Getting caught with these items or evidence of the
presence of these items will result in disqualification from the event and eviction from the venue.
● No fighting or weaponry inside the venue. Throwing controllers or acting in a way that could
pose a danger to other players will result in disqualification from the event and eviction from the
venue.
● The CNE (Canadian National Exhibition) and Waveform Entertainment are referred to
hereafter as TOs (Tournament Organizers)
● No refusal to play on certain setups barring extreme circumstances. All players agree to have
their matches recorded if requested by the TOs.
● All disqualifications due to tardiness will be complete DQs, meaning the disqualified player will
be removed from both winners and losers bracket, or removed from the entire event if late for a
pools match.
● The TO are granted license to use any and all types of video that you may be present in at the
event, including camera recordings, livestream broadcasts, and captured gameplay footage.
● The TO are granted license to photograph your image, likeness, or depiction at the event, and
you waive any claim for compensation for the event's use or publication of photographs taken of
you.
● The TO reserve the right to deny entry into the tournament to any player suspected of
committing anything considered a crime or acting in a manner that is detrimental to the integrity
of the event.
● The TO reserve the right to deny payout from event winnings to any player suspected of
intentionally throwing a match, splitting a payout, cheating, or committing any other form of
bracket manipulation.
● The TO reserve the right to settle any unforeseen situations that may occur, and his judgment
is final. In extreme situations, rules may be altered between phases of a tournament in the best
interests of the event.
Registration and Check-in
● All Competitors are required to check-in at the Tournament Administrator desk at least 30
minutes before the each Tournaments’ starting time.
● After checking in competitors will be directed to their game station and log into their accounts
provided during registration.
● During the waiting period before and after matches Competitors are not to play any practice
matches but are allowed within individual game rules to customize their settings.
Disqualification
● The TO reserves the right to disqualify and/or revoke CNE admission for breaking any of the
above code of conduct guidelines during the Tournament period.
Acknowledgement
● By participating in the CNE Gaming Garage you acknowledge you have read all rules and
agree to the terms and conditions.

3.0 - DOTA 2 RULES & REGULATIONS


Matches
Lobby Hosting
Players will be directed by Tournament Admins before each match as to who will be the host of the lobby.

Tournament format
The DOTA 2 tournament is a double elimination bracket. Bracket victories will be best of one until Grand
Finals when the series will be best of three. Each team will face their bracketed opponent with the loser
being sent to the losers bracket. Losing a match in the losers bracket eliminates you from the
tournament.

Registration confirmation
The Steam account given during ticket registration must be the same as the one that you will be
competing with.
Spectators

3.1​ Every person is allowed to join the game as a broadcaster or unassigned player, if both teams allow
it. If one team asks a spectator to leave before or during the game, he has to do that immediately.

3.1.1​ ​Referees, and official CNE broadcasters have the right to spectate any game without the
agreement of the teams.

Server Location

3.2.1​ ​The default server location is US East.

Sides & Drafting Order

A coin toss will be held to determine which team will get ‘Selection Priority’. The team with Selection
priority will choose their side of the map or drafting order.
● In a one-game series, the winner of the coin toss will have selection priority.
● In a two-game series, the winner of the coin toss will have selection priority for the first match.
The loser of the coin toss will have selection priority for the second match.
● In a three-game series, the winner of the coin toss will have selection priority for the first match.
The loser of the coin toss will have selection priority for the second match. If there is a third
match, another coin toss will be held.

Game Settings

SERVER LOCATION​, ​PASSWORD​ and S ​ TARTING TEAM​ are set according to the rules above.
GAME NAME​ and ​BOTS​ are irrelevant. The remaining settings have to be:

During the match

3.3​ ​Picks & Bans


The hero pool always consists of all in Captains Mode available heroes and might therefore change
several times during the competition. The game must not be paused during the draft, unless a drafter
disconnects.

3.4​ ​Pauses
Each team has the right to pause the game for an acceptable duration, if a player announces it at least
three seconds in advance and calls a coherent reason (exception: not necessary, if someone
disconnects). The game must not be resumed before both teams agree with it. When the number or the
duration of breaks becomes too high or long, the administration may force the continuation of the game.

3.5​ ​Disconnects & Reconnects


If a player disconnects, the game is to be paused instantly.

3.6​ ​Broadcasting

3.6.1​ Every authorized spectator inside the game is allowed to provide a video stream with a delay of at
least two minutes.

3.6.2 ​Spectators from DotaTV are allowed to broadcast a match with any delay.

3.6.3​ ​The players are not allowed to watch or listen to any of these video streams or DotaTV at any time
during their match. Furthermore they are not allowed to provide a stream themselves.

3.7​ ​Bugs
If any serious bugs occur, the game has to be paused immediately and the administration decides how to
continue. Abusing a bug is forbidden.

3.8​ ​Tools / Hacks


The usage of any Dota-related tool aside from Steam and Dota 2 during a match is strictly forbidden.

3.9​ ​Ending
A game is finished, when an Ancient Fortress is destroyed, when one team obviously forfeits, when the
majority of a team leaves on purpose, or when the administration decides on it. When you win, you need
to inform the administrators of the tournament of the results of the games(Victory or Defeat) and the
score. You will do so by going to the administrators table.
4.0 - OVERWATCH RULES & REGULATIONS

Registration confirmation
​ he Blizzard account (name#number) given during ticket registration must be the same as the one

Tournament format
​ he tournament is divided in two sections. The first one will be a round robin split in multiple groups.
4.2 T
Each team will face every other team in their group. For the second section, both teams who had the
most wins will qualify for the official bracket to have a chance to get the grand prize.

Section One
​ he teams will be assembled into groups. Each team of each group will have to face the other teams

from their group. Every faceoff will be decided in a best of one. The two teams who had the most wins in
each group will participate in the second part of the tournament. The map choice will be predetermined by
a rotation chosen by the tournament's administrators.

Section Two
4.4​ ​In the second round the teams are placed in the official bracket of the tournament. Each faceoff
between the teams are going to be best of 3.. Start the game as soon as possible when both teams are
ready. The tournament admins have the right to edit the team order without further notice before the
beginning of the tourney.

Finals
4.5 ​The final match and the 2nd section of the tournament will be decided by double elimination. This
implies that if a team loses a game, they go into a loser bracket. The winner of the loser bracket will face
the winner of the regular bracket. For the final, the winner of the regular bracket starts with one more win.
(The winner of the losing bracket needs 3 out of 5, the other team only needs 2).

Double elimination
​ he final match and the 2nd section of the tournament will be decided by double elimination. This

implies that if a team loses a game, they go into a loser bracket. The winner of the loser bracket will face
the winner of the regular bracket. For the final, the winner of the regular bracket starts with one more win.
(The winner of the losing bracket needs 3 out of 5, the other team only needs 2).

Rules

1. Control maps (Ilios, Lijiang Tower, Nepal or Oasis) will set to 5 rounds (competitive mode).
2. If the score is even at the end of a game, the team who earns the first capture point in a control
map (1-0) receives the victory.
3. If a player disconnects from the game in the first 30 seconds or before the first kill, you will be
allowed to restart.
4. For any reason approved (Disconnecting, lag, hardware problems), each team will have 15
minutes of pausing. Both teams will have to do a ready check in the chat before resuming the
game. If one team isn’t ready after 15 minutes, the game will have to resume even if the problem
persists. Strategic pauses will not be permitted.
5. If 3 teams have the same amount of victories in the group stage, the number of points won in the
matches played will break the tie.
6. Spectators are allowed as long as both teams agree. This rule doesn’t apply to the administrators
of the tournament and/or the shout casters of the official CNE stream.
7. A player cannot play for more than one team in the tournament. A substitute player that plays for
the team is allowed.
8. When you win, you need to inform the administrators of the tournament of the results of the
games(Victory or Defeat), as well as the score. You will do so by going to the administrators
table. A screenshot will have to be taken by the winning team at the end of a game as proof in
case of a contradiction when both teams tell their scores.
5.0 - FORTNITE RULES & REGULATIONS

Registration confirmation
​ he Epic account given during ticket registration must be the same as the one that you will be

Tournament format
​ he two tournaments will run separately Sunday August 26th, with Solos starting at 11AM and Duos

at 4PM. The Fortnite Solo and Duos tournaments will be run on PC and will award points based on both
Victory Royales and player eliminations. Two (2) points will be awarded for each Victory Royale attained
during the tournament period(s) and One (1) point will be awarded for every 10 player eliminations each
player/team confirms. The Player/Team with the highest point score at the end of the tournament period
will take the grand prize.

Game Lobby
​ layers will be directed to join and/or invite their opponents to a lobby for matchmaking. They will

commence play when given instruction to do so by their tournament administrator.
5.3.1 ​For the Solo portion of the tournament players will be queuing in Duos lobbies. Duos teams will be
required to queue in Squads.

Rules
1. Games will commence under direction from a Tournament Admin. After being eliminated or
winning a match, players are to remain in Spectator Mode until directed to return to lobby by their
Tournament Admin.
2. If a player disconnects from the game in the first 30 seconds or before the first kill, you will be

3. If 2 Players or Teams have the same amount of points at the end of the tournament period, a final
match will be played with the highest scoring Player/Team of the match being declared Grand
Champion.
4. Spectators are allowed as long as both teams agree. This rule doesn’t apply to the administrators
of the tournament and/or the shout casters of the official CNE stream.

6.0 - Prizing
6.1​ ​All Official Tournament games will have a total Prize pool of $5,000CAD
6.1.1 ​The Fortnite prize pool will be split across the Solos and Duos tournaments.

6.2 - Prize Distribution


Prize money will be distributed to the top 4 Competitors/Teams for each tournament
Percentages are as follows:
1st 55% of total prize pool
2nd 27% of total prize pool
3rd 13% of total prize pool
4th 5% of total prize pool

6.2.1​ ​For Tournaments with teams, prize money will be sent to the designated team Captain for
distribution to team members.
