EFFECTS OF CORRUPTION

People
Lack of quality in services

In a corrupt country, government officials focus more on their self service rather than
their service for the public. They measure their return on every service they deliver and
weigh personal cost benefit analysis. Compared to a self less and visionary leader, a
contrary personality would lead and affect the quality of life the public deserves.

Lack of proper justice

Justice is a process of using laws to fairly judge and punish criminals. Corruption in the
judiciary system would substantially affect all other departments and branches leading
to a chaotic nation. This would allow the purpose of laws to be ineffectual due to bias
and corrupt decisions.

Chances of Unemployment

Unemployment is one of the main issues a country should tackle. This issue could lead
and dictate a country into its vision or its worst nightmare. Corruption could greatly
affect this aspect if not given of great importance and immediate solution.

Poor Health and hygiene

These are essential needs of an individual. A country disregarding such sector

contributes risks to the lives of the people. Corruption allows health and hygiene of the
people be by passed due to issues arising which are suppose to be irrelevant that does
not contribute to the economic growth.

Accidents

Proper precautions and tests given by the government wouldn’t be given much
importance due to corruption. Such attention will be transferred to the corrupt
government thus disregarding the responsibility of due diligence towards the people
expected from government.
Society
Disregard for officials

The society brings a remark of disregarding officials due to corruption. They lose the
trust and giving them less opportunities in obeying rules and regulation in the question
of the credibility of the lawmaker.

Lack of respect for rulers

Rulers of the nation like president or prime ministers lose respect among the public.
Respect is main criteria in social life. People go for voting during election not only with
the desire to improve their living standards by the election winner but also with respect
for the leader. If the politicians involve in corruption, people knowing this will lose
respect for them and will not like to cast their vote for such politicians.

Lack of faith and trust on the governments

Previous acts of officials leaves a mark in the eyes of the public. Negative acts bring
negative outlook towards the future thus affect the trust that each individual are suppose
to render towards our leader.

Economy
Decrease in foreign investment

Foreign investors seek potential growth in a particular country and industry. Most of the
investors focus on the fundamentals rather on the technicals in making smart decisions.
Corruption negatively affects the fundamental analysis of foreign investors thus pulling
out chunks of investments from Filipino companies.

Delay in growth

The withdrawal of foreign investments and lack of trust significantly delays the growth of
the economy. Instead of pooling more funds to allow faster growth and consumption, it
delays such due to lack of financial sources and the like.1
