THIS CAMPAIGN SEASON, LIKE ALL OTHERS , HAS BROUGHT OUT RUMORS AND SNIDE REMARKS. LET'S MAKE
SOMETHING VERY CLEAR. H ERMAN T ALMADGE III IS NOT A D EMOCRAT, NOR HAS HE EVER FOLLOWED A LIBERAL
AGENDA.
WORKING FOR THEREPUBLICAN PARTY AND SPECIFICALLY THE ELECTION CAMPAIGN OF CANDIDATE, AND THEN PRESIDENT G EORGE W. BUSH HE
WAS AWARDED A COMMISSION OF ACCOMPLISHMENT BY THE PRESIDENTIAL ROUNDTABLE COMMISSION IN 2000 STATING
MR. HERMAN TALMADGE III IS A REPUBLICAN LEADER IN THE L OVEJOY COMMUNITY AND A STEADFAST SUPPORTER OF PRESIDENT
GEORGE W. BUSH. MR. TALMADGE IS KNOWN TO REPRESENT THE HIGHEST REPUBLICAN IDEALS AND PRINCIPLES.
HERMAN TALMADGE WAS ALSO AWARDED A SECOND COMMISSION OF ACCOMPLISHMENT BY THE P RESIDENTIAL ROUNDTABLE IN 2004,
AGAIN AMONG ONLY 100 PEOPLE IN GEORGIA TO BE SO HONORED.
HERMAN TALMADGE WAS ALSO AWARDED A WARRANT OF MEMBERSHIP BY THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY REPUBLICAN SENATORIAL INNER
CIRCLE COMMISSION. HE WAS AMONG ONLY 100 PEOPLE IN THE STATE OF G EORGIA TO RECEIVE THIS RECOGNITION.
THROUGH HIS WORK AND EFFORTS TO SUPPORT AND PROMOTE REPUBLICAN PARTY AND IDEALS OF CONSERVATISM, HERMAN TALMADGE HAS RAISED
SEVERAL HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR THE PARTY AT THE LOCAL, STATE AND NATIONAL LEVELS.
EVERYONE KNOWS THE T ALMADGE FAMILY AS LEADERS IN THE COMMUNITY, STATE AND NATIONAL POLITICS.
SINCE 1940 THE FAMILY FARM,
BUSINESS AND RESIDENCE HAS BEEN IN HAMPTON, GEORGIA. HERMAN'S GREAT-GRANDFATHER EUGENE TALMADGE (1884 - 1946) SERVED AS
THE 67TH GOVERNOR OF GEORGIA FROM 1933 TO 1937 AND AGAIN FROM 1941 TO 1943. ELECTED TO ANOTHER TERM IN 1946, HE DIED
BEFORE TAKING OFFICE. TO DATE ONLY JOE BROWN AND E UGENE TALMADGE HAVE BEEN ELECTED FOUR TIMES AS GOVERNOR OF GEORGIA.
HERMAN'S GRANDFATHER HERMAN TALMADGE (1913 - 2002), SON OF EUGENE TALMADGE, SERVED AS GOVERNOR OF GEORGIA FOR A BRIEF
TIME IN EARLY 1947 AND AGAIN FROM 1948 TO 1954. IN 1956 TALMADGE WAS ELECTED TO THE U.S. SENATE, WHERE HE SERVED UNTIL HIS
DEFEAT IN 1980.
AN HISTORICAL NOTE IS NEEDED . TRADITIONAL DEMOCRATS ARE NOT THE SAME AS TODAY'S DEMOCRAT PARTY. WE MUST DISTINGUISH THE
PARTIES BY HOW THEY BELIEVE DURING DIFFERENT TIME PERIODS. THE DEMOCRAT PARTY USED TO BE THE MILITARY PARTY AND THE REPUBLICAN
PARTY THE ISOLATIONIST PARTY , BUT IN THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS THEY HAVE SWITCHED SIDES. SO IT WOULDN'T BE FAIR TO GROUP TOGETHER
THE NATION BUILDING N EOCONSERVATIVES WITH THE TRADITIONAL MILITARY "LAST RESORT" REPUBLICANS.
IT PRESIDENT FRANKLIN ROOSEVELT OPPOSED EUGENE TALMADGE'S RUN FOR THE US SENATE . EUGENE DID NOT
IS INTERESTING TO NOTE THAT
SUPPORTFDR'S NEW DEAL. FROM THE BEGINNING, THEN, IT IS WRONG TO ASSOCIATE THE T ALMADGE NAME WITH LIBERAL DEMOCRATS OR THEIR
PROGRAMS.
WITH THE REAGAN REVOLUTION AMERICA 'S SOUTH REVOLTED AGAINST THE INCREASINGLY LIBERAL POLICIES OF THE DEMOCRAT PARTY .
CANDIDATE AND THEN PRESIDENT RONALD REAGAN ELOQUENTLY DESCRIBED THE DIFFERENCES AND HOW THE NATION MUST RETURN TO
CONSERVATIVE VALUES. IN REALITY S OUTHERN DEMOCRATS DID NOT CHANGE, THE PARTY LEFT THEM!
HERMAN TALMADGE III IS A CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICAN. AGAIN TAKING FROM HISTORY AND DEFINITION OF THE TERM , HERMAN IS
CONSERVATIVE ON SOCIAL ISSUES AND SUPPORTS ECONOMIC FREEDOM. HE IS AMONG GOOD COMPANY SHARING THESE VIEWS WITH THE LIKES OF
RONALD REAGAN , GEORGE H.W. BUSH AND GEORGE W. BUSH.
ATLANTA - The Medical Association of Georgia (MAG) will honor three state legislators with its new Eagle Award for
extraordinary leadership during its annual meeting. The 2010 recipients include Sen. Ralph Hudgens, Sen. Greg
Goggans, and Rep. Steve Davis, MAG President Gary C. Richter, M.D., announced today. The three will receive the
awards during MAG's House of Delegates meeting on October 17 in Savannah.
"We're delighted to recognize three leaders we believe are true champions for patients and physicians in Georgia," Dr.
Richter said. "They clearly share our vision for a patient-driven health care system in this state."
Dr. Richter praised Rep. Davis for his efforts to promote H.B. 321, which would have required third party administrators
to pay claims in a reasonable period of time, just like traditional insurers. "Unfortunately, Gov. Perdue ultimately vetoed
this bill - but physicians in this state
nonetheless owe Representative Davis a great debt of gratitude for the time and effort he put into this and other pro-
physician measures," Dr. Richter said.
With more than 6,000 members, MAG is the leading voice for the medical profession in Georgia.

Candidates for the District 2 board of commissioners' seat received an invitation from the Henry Chamber of
Commerce to participate in a televised forum to occur on October 14th.
The Henry County Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Committee is hosting a forum featuring candidates
for the Henry County Board of Commissioners District 2 seat on Thursday, October 14 @ 12 noon at the Henry
County Administration Building. The forum will be broadcast live on Channel 14 TV and aired multiple times
leading up to the General Election. We hope you will participate.
Attached is your invitation and all details regarding the forum. Also attached is a questionnaire that must be
completed in order to participate in the forum
The Chamber of Commerce is a private, non-private organization. They represent private views and agendas. They do
not speak for Henry County Government.
Director of Communications for Henry County's government access television station, Julie Hoover-Ernst, determined the
Chamber's forum provides a community service. Yet the requirement for candidate participation is completion of
a questionnaire provided by the Chamber. The Chamber sets the rules for participation. The Chamber sets
the agenda and hosts the forum.
The Chamber's questionnaire has 20 questions including a personal information section that reads like an application for
security clearance. Highest education attained? Name the schools? Children's names and ages? Have you ever filed for
bankruptcy? Have you ever been convicted of a crime?
Henry County's Comprehensive Transportation Plan (CTP) identified the State Route 42 corridor through Henry
County as a "critical north-south alternative to I-75." Funding for this project does not currently exist at the
State level, what innovate ideas would you propose to move this project forward?
** Shouldn't the question be "Do you think this project is worthwhile and a legitimate priority?"
House Bill 277 gives Georgians the option of taxing themselves through a one percent sales and use tax to raise
money for regional transportation investments.
* Can you say Regional Transportation SPLOST that Henry will probably never see a dime from the tax?
What position/role do you believe the Board of Commissioners should take regarding proposed commuter rail
service from Atlanta to Macon?
* When the Chamber finds non-tax funding this may appeal to non-Chamber voters.
How would you attract additional business and industrial development to further assist in the balancing of our
county's tax base? Please include your position on incentives.
What role would you like to see Tara Field play in future economic development in Henry County?
* Call me when there is a benefit that we do not already enjoy, and full explanation why it matters that Clayton County
owns it.
What role do you feel local governments should play in building an adequate technology infrastructure to support
and attract industry?
These are only samples of the questions. Three queries asked how a candidate would work to improve education.
Whoa! The board of education is completely separate from the board of commissioners..
OK, we get it. Do the candidates support the ongoing agendas of the Chamber?
Now we understand why at least three of the District 2 candidates will boycott the Chamber's event. A stacked deck
does not appeal to anyone, and even less to honest candidates who desire to represent The People instead
of The Chamber.

I guess I'm part of the last generation to see, or even remember anything like
this!
Whatever happened?
Political correctness (or "re-education") happened,
Lack of God's name happened,
Lack of personal responsibility happened,
Lack of personal integrity and honesty happened,
Lack of respect and loyalty to our country happened,
Lack of being an American happened.
Did all of these things die along with common sense ?!?

The Citizen spoke with Mayor Billy Copeland and got the status of this issue.
Neither he nor any councilor wants this type of business in the city or county.
But government cannot outlaw its existence. They researched and investigated
the proposal from February until June. The city enacted an ordinance to restrict
allowable zoning district to Industrial Pkwy and its side streets. They also
included zoning conditions that restrict the business operation and public access
and visibility. That was the best and only legal way to address it.
The next issue will be alcohol by the drink - a pouring license for the
business. The city already has ordinance and precedence on their side to deny
that request, which is expected to come before the council early next year. A
good thing is that inability to sell liquor by the drink will virtually kill a strip club
business model.
Since the June passage of the ordinance and the liquor issue being moot,
nobody has sought zoning or business license for the strip club.
We agree that a public outcry can and should come the citizens. Already 6 of
the car dealerships on Industrial Pkwy are screaming against it! Nobody wants
it even close by. Mayor Copeland also said many pastors in Henry & Clayton
have called in opposition. The obvious issues of community standards are
reinforced by the nationwide fact that drugs and prostitution follow this type of
business - The Pink Pony in Forest Park is an example.

I have had many of you ask me, "Are you still voting for Nathan Deal, even after all the negative press", and the
answer is a definite YES, I AM!
While Nathan Deal has been hammered in the press for the last two weeks (and where has the negative press
about Roy Barnes been?), there is no doubt that he is still the very best candidate to be our next Governor. The
question is, DO WE WANT A TRUE CONSERVATIVE LIKE NATHAN DEAL, OR SOMEONE LIKE ROY BARNES, WHO
WILL BRING OBAMA ECONOMICS TO OUR STATE??
So I thought I would share with you the Deal Difference below. You can find more at
www.dealdifference.com.
~~ Allen Peake
As a prosecutor, Nathan Deal sought out justice for victims of crime, and as a juvenile court judge, Nathan Deal spent
his career protecting Georgia's children and seeking justice for victims of crime.
As a trial attorney, Roy Barnes sued his way into being a multi-millionaire-including by representing clients before
judges he appointed.1
Nathan Deal introduced in May his Real Prosperity Plan - the only plan to be scored by a nonpartisan tax reform
organization, confirming that Nathan's plan will dramatically improve Georgia's tax climate for families and small
businesses. Nathan has pledged to veto any tax increase because he is committed to creating new, private sector jobs.
Under Roy Barnes's watch, Georgia led the entire nation in job losses in 2001. It was the "largest overall job loss in
Georgia, for that period, since the Bureau of Labor Statistics began tracking employment in 1939."2 Roy Barnes does
have a plan to grow government bureaucracy but at the expense of private sector job growth.
With his Real Results Plan, Nathan Deal has sought the input of teachers and parents to create a vision that will make
Georgia's students life-, college-, and work-ready. As the son of school teachers and husband of a retired teacher,
Nathan knows that education requires the involvement of teachers, parents, administrators, and students
Georgia's parents and teachers fired Roy Barnes in 2002 because he earned an "F" in education-by letting Georgia's
education system fall to 50th in the nation.3 His solution was to throw teachers under the "school bus" and blame them
for his failures.
Nathan Deal has committed to keeping state spending focused on essential and constitutional functions like education,
transportation, healthcare, and public safety so that he can reduced the tax burden on Georgians by eliminating the
marriage penalty tax and eliminating the income tax for low-income Georgians.
Roy Barnes has staked his campaign on making unrealistic promises in every corner of the State of Georgia. Because
our state government cannot run a deficit, Roy's promises will ultimately result in an over $2 billion tax increase for
Georgia families and job creators.4
As a leader on healthcare issues in Congress, Nathan Deal fought Obamacare every step of the way and voted against it
because it will make healthcare more costly and out-of-reach for Georgians. He was the first Republican to call the
individual mandate unconstitutional.
Roy Barnes contributed more than the legal limit to candidate Barack Obama, made donations to the campaigns of
Harry Reid and other Senators who rammed Obamacare through the Congress over the objections of the American
people.5
Nathan Deal supports reining in junk lawsuits that drive up the cost of Georgians' healthcare and make insurance
unaffordable for millions of Georgians. He supports a constitutional amendment that will stop abuses of our legal
system for the sake of jackpot justice.
Roy Barnes thinks that trial lawyers don't make enough money off of junk lawsuits. During a recent debate, Barnes
stated that he felt the current system is fine and, in fact, would not even let the people of Georgia vote to rein in abuses
of our legal system which cost Georgians billions.6
With a lifetime "A" rating from the National Right to Life and the endorsement of Georgia Right to Life, Nathan Deal will
stand up for human life at all stages and will fight Obamacare funding of abortions in Georgia.
Recognizing that the sanctity of life doesn't end at birth, Nathan Deal strongly supports adoption and foster care as
alternatives to abortion.
Roy Barnes supports creating human life for the purposes of medical experimentation. Recently, Barnes stated that he
is pro-choice after being convinced that he was wrong in his previous pro-life stance. 7
In an attempt to defend his abysmal record on foster care as governor, Barnes stated "you're going to have children
that die every day."8
Nathan Deal has committed to signing an Arizona-like immigration bill for Georgia. Further, Nathan will stand with
Arizona in its legal challenge against the Obama Justice Department.
As governor, Nathan Deal will oppose driver's licenses and in-state tuition for illegal immigrants. Nathan Deal also
supports implementing a statewide 287(g) program that will un-tie local law enforcements hands when dealing with our
immigration laws.
Roy Barnes sat on the board of an organization that not only promoted in-state tuition for illegal immigrants but also
issued a study undermining the principles of the Arizona immigration bill.
In 2001, Roy Barnes told the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce that Georgia should provide driver's licenses to illegal
immigrants. In 2002, Roy Barnes assured Mexican President Vicente Fox that Barnes's policy was to waive in-state
tuition for illegal immigrants living in Georgia.
Nathan believes in funding Georgia's priorities first and making government more efficient rather than taxing Georgians
into the poorhouse to pay for bigger government and more bureaucrats.
As governor, Roy Barnes led a massive expansion of bureaucracy creating numerous shadow agencies in order to
consolidate state government and power under his authority.
Nathan Deal supports Georgia's exemplary voter I.D. requirement that simply makes sure that only legal, Georgia
residents vote in our elections.
Roy Barnes SUED the state of Georgia to stop its voter I.D. requirement. The Georgia Supreme Court unanimously
ruled against Roy Barnes.9
Nathan Deal believes that congressional and legislative districts should not be drawn to look like ink blots of political
power but rather be compact and contiguous preserving common areas of interest.
As governor, Roy Barnes rammed through the General Assembly a set of redistricting maps that would have made
Elbridge Gerry (the father of gerrymandering) cry. In fact, a Federal court ruled Barnes's state legislative maps
illegal.10

For sometime now there has been a worry in the community that Adult Entertainment establishments were going to
come to Henry County. They have already been here in what would be termed as the PG form with bikini clad women
at the eateries in Stockbridge.
But for sometime now in a quiet form, the McDonough city council has been working toward an ordinance that would
allow them but in a special district.
The churches in the area are worried just as many citizens about the problems that this type of genre' brings with it.
Remember the old Steward Avenue which they call Metropolitan Blvd today. Here is what the McDonough City Council
has been doing towards this end.
On 6/3/10 Workshop session
There has been talk that someone wants to put an Adult Entertainment Club on Industrial Blvd across from O.B.'s Bar-
B-Que. The people in the area in other businesses do not like it.
According to current property information there are two pieces of property across the road. One belonging to the Henry
County Board of Commissioners and the other to a Mr. Sanford Orkin. Apparently someone has made an offer on the
property.
Mayor Billy Copeland said that it could not be stopped because it is within their rights to have such an establishment,
but with rules.
This is true, but the image of McDonough would be tarnished with such a facility there. I cannot see the Chamber of
Commerce endorsing such a venture also. If this is allow to move into that area along Industrial Blvd that will become
the red light district for McDonough and Henry County.
Yes, legally they have this right, but morally it is a different question. It just doesn't fit in a community that has always
raised Christian values above all. Think about this, our forefathers fought to give them this right, but I don't think they
realized where this would go over 200 years later.
The Doctor
The Citizen wrote the following message to Ms. Ernst and the county manager. Julie Ernst decided to ignore it.
How is it appropriate for our government access channel be used for non-government programming? Why is it
acceptable to use government facility, equipment and staff for such an event? There are two local cable
television providers that could do this and reap advertising revenue from it. This setup is taking advertising
revenue away from both local businesses.
Will the county administration facilities and TV-14 staff be made available to any other groups desiring this
opportunity?
I went back and researched our adopted policy regarding TV14 which provides operational guidelines. The policy
is very clear as to the disallowing of any personal/individual political programming, but candidate
debates/forums are allowed. I have not been here, but I understand TV14 has co-hosted these types of forums,
where all candidates with opposition are invited, in the past and doing so certainly meets such stated policy
objectives as "enhancing public understanding of local issues affecting them" and to "encourage participation in
government and civic affairs".
As to the question of harming the ability of other cable providers to hold such a forum and generate revenue,
nothing that we are doing precludes that from occurring. To me, such charge is somewhat akin to claiming that
our in-house County Updates should be discontinued because of the same, potential negative impact on the
private sector. I disagree and believe there is a community/citizen need for both TV14 and private cable
providers and more than enough solid content to go around.
I hope this gives you an idea where we are coming from on this question and I hope it adequately responds to
your readers.
Thank you for this response. In that "TV14 has co-hosted these types of forums" in the past, I would expect to see a
rash of requests for similar air time regardless of unilateral determinations of what is and is not a customer
service. While I fully agree that candidate forums do provide information, participation in this particular forum is
governed by the Chamber of Commerce and depends upon completion of a 20-question questionnaire. In
that the Chamber is a private non-profit organization the current policy leaves the door open for any and all
organizations to have access to our public access facility, staff and equipment.
In fact The Citizen submitted a request to Julie allowing the same privileges be granted to Henry Citizens for
Responsible Government, the political action committee that provides The Citizen Newsletter. With 4,000 readers The
Citizen should rate at least on par with the Chamber's 600 members.
We intend to deliver a public service by educating voters to the negative aspects of tax allocation districts,
development bonds to finance private businesses, the financial mistake of purchasing land from William Abbate that is
already heavily mortgaged and several other current issues.
You see, the definition of public service must be left to public discretion under the current policy.
