Justice is the foremost virtue of the civilized races

by: Jose P. Rizal
Justice as the foundation of human rights, expression of equality restored relationship
between the creator and the created. Free press keeps the government in touch with
public opinion and promotes the free dissemination of information, both of which allow
our officials to better determine, weigh, and estimate the needs of the people, thus
promoting good governance. Laws and acts of officials are kept in checked, thus,
promoting the development of employees and officials capable and cognizant of their
duties. When you have such, you have justice, which is the foremost virtue of the
civilizing races. In the end, the road that appears best for a country becomes easily
recognizable. It used to overcome a barbarous nation while injustice arouses the
weakest. In our country today, is Justice present that make us a civilized nation?
Unfortunately, it is sad to know that still, there is inequality of human rights which I
guess inevitable to the law and to the people. It is well proven nowadays like in the
health care setting, those who have money are more often prioritized that those who are
indigent. Some health care centers are lacking medical supply because the government
has only limited funds or inadequate funds in health, the result is indigent people always
suffers because of lack of medications, by merely looking at them, you'll realized that
there are unequal treat among the different classes of people. Those who are elite, are
not contented on what they have, they still wants power, where is justice? This is the
reason why our country suffers, because of the corrupted individuals and because of
the unjust law that we have. I have never seen so many criminals roaming around
unfettered and looking smug until now. These criminals wear suits and barongs, strut
around with the confidence of the rich and famous, inspire fear and awe from the very
citizens who voted them to power, bear titles like “Honorable”, “Senator”, “Justice”,
“General” and worse, “President”. Ironically, these lawless individuals practice law,
make our laws, enforce the law. And we wonder why our policemen act the way they
do! These are their leaders, and the leaders of this nation – Robin Hoodlum and his
band of moneymen their motto? “Rob the poor, moderate the greed of the rich.” is that
what our government stand? Government could not provide enough of the basic
services that I expect and deserve. Rutty roads, poor educational system, poor social
services, poor health services, poor everything. Let start to solve this first in our family,
Parents should raise their children the best way they can. Do not smother, pamper, or
lavish them with too much of the material comforts of life even if they can well afford
them. Teach them that there are more important things in this world. Teach them the
virtues of hard work, honesty, fair play, sharing, dignity and compassion – right from the
sandbox till they are old enough to go on their own. Young people and young
professionals should look around and get involved in what is happening there are a few
handful who are capable of running this country, we should be a good model For love of
this country, for the future of our children, for the many who have sacrificed and died to
uphold our rights and ideals. As ordinary citizens, we can do much more for the
Philippines than sit around. Justice is the foremost virtue of a civilized nation.
