1.1 BSC Software Versions

The BSC version package organizes the published version packages together by using
version files. In the software version management, users can download, activate, and
validate the version packages.
For better management, version packages are classified into platform version package and
Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) version package. In this way, users can
independently activate a version package as needed.
l Platform version package
Platform version package is classified into Central Processing Unit (CPU) version,
Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) version, Micro Control Unit (MCU) version,
and 2G platform software version.
The file name of the platform version package is PLAT_V6.50.100x.pkg.
l GSM version package
GSM version package contains the versions of GSM service process versions.
The file name of the GSM version package is GSM_V6.50.100x.pkg.

Note:

The "x" in a version package file name is the small version number. The "x" in actual
environment is determined by the used small version number.

1.2 Software Version Status

The BSC software packages are classified into the following four version types. For a
description of the versions, refer to Table 1-1.

Table 1-1 Software Version Types

Version Description

Backup version The version file is downloaded to the Operation Main Process
(OMP), but not uploaded to the board.

Default version A version file that is uploaded to the board, but is not validated. A
version cannot become the operating version until it is validated.

Special version A particular version updated to a board. Its version level is higher
than the common version.

Operation version An uploaded version that is operating in a board.

For the change of software version storage location and status, see Figure 1-1.
