2, Version Management Operations Describes how to manage the BSC software packages.
Conventions
This manual uses the following typographical conventions:
Typeface Meaning
Note:
The "x" in a version package file name is the small version number. The "x" in actual
environment is determined by the used small version number.

Version Description
Backup version The version file is downloaded to the Operation Main Process
(OMP), but not uploaded to the board.
Default version A version file that is uploaded to the board, but is not validated. A
version cannot become the operating version until it is validated.
Special version A particular version updated to a board. Its version level is higher
than the common version.
For the change of software version storage location and status, see Figure 1-1.
l The EMS server and OMM server are ready and can normally communicate with the
BSC.
l The EMS client is ready.
l The NMS server is successfully logged into and the Software Version Management
window is displayed.
l The software package is acquired.
l The work instruction is acquired.

Prerequisite
The software version package files have been acquired.
The Software Version Management tab is displayed.
Steps
1. In the Software Version Management window, click Version Management, and then
select Created Package Management. The Created Package Management tab is
displayed, see Figure 2-1.

1. In the NE tree of the left pane, select SubNetwork > ME.
2. Right-click Controller-OMP, and then select Version Download from the shortcut
menu. The Version Download dialog box is displayed, see Figure 2-3.
Warning!
Ensure that the version activation permission has been acquired. After version activation,
all boards will be restarted and a service interruption will occur.

Prerequisite
The version package to be activated has been downloaded.
Steps
1. In the NE tree in the left pane, select SubNetwork > ME.
2. Double-click Controller-OMP. The Controller-OMP tab is displayed in the right pane.
3. Press Ctrl, and select one or more version packages to be activated from the
Default Version tab. Right-click the selected version packages and then select
Version Validate from the shortcut menu. The Active Version Package dialog box
is displayed, see Figure 2-4.
5. Click Option. The Active Version Package dialog box is displayed. Select basic
configurations.
The basic configuration are as follows:
l Deactivate all the other versions.
l Send a version validation command (if this option is not selected, manual
validation or board resetting is needed).
6. Click OK.

1. On the Software Version Management tab, double-click 100001 > SubNetwork >
ME > Controller-OMP. The Default Version tab is displayed.
2. Press the Ctrl key, and then select one or more version packages from the Default
Version tab. Double-click the selected version package, and then select Choose
Version Patch from the shortcut menu. The Choose Version Patch dialog box is
displayed, see Figure 2-6.

1. In the Software Version Management window, double-click 100001 > SubNetwork
> ME > Controller-OMP. The Default Version tab is displayed.
2. Press the Ctrl key, and then select one or more version packages from the Default
Version tab. Double-click the selected version packages, and then select Deactivate
Version from the shortcut menu. The Deactivate Version dialog box is displayed.
3. Select the version package, and then click OK.

2. Double-click Controller-OMP, and then select Version Validate from the shortcut
menu.

1. In the NE tree in the left pane, select SubNetwork > ME.
2. Double-click Controller-OMP. The Controller-OMP tab is displayed in the right pane,
see Figure 2-7.
3. Press the Ctrl key, and then select one or more version packages from the Default
Version tab. Double-click the selected version packages, and then select Delete
Version Package from the shortcut menu. The Delete Version Package dialog box
is displayed see Figure 2-8.

4. Select a check box of the version to be activated in the Delete Version Package dialog
box.

3. The Synchronize version file of the master and slave boards dialog box is

2.1.11 Checking the Consistency of the Hard Disc Version File and
Database
Software version management sends the message to OMP. The OMP receives the
message and returns it to software version management, and the operation ends. An
alarm reported if there is a problem. The detailed information is displayed in the alarm
management.
Steps
1. In the NE tree in the left pane, select SubNetwork > ME.
2. Double-click Controller-OMP, and select Board block storage version file check
from the shortcut menu.
3. The Board block storage version file check dialog box is displayed. Click OK.

1. In the NE tree in the left pane, select SubNetwork > ME.
2. Double-click Shelf-ECMM, and select Set ECMM Initial Config from the shortcut
menu.
3. The Set ECMM Initial Config dialog box is displayed. Configure the parameters, see
Figure 2-9. For a description of the parameters, refer to Table 2-1.

Parameter Description
CMM Net ID Used for setting ECMM network office number. The fixed value
is 1.
OMM Mode Used for OMM mode configuration information. The mode is set
to OMM Inner Base.
Master sntp server address Set the SNTP server address to the OMP control plane address
of slot 7: 128.129.17.199.
Board slot The OMP slot is rack 1, shelf 2, and slot 7/8. The OMM slot is
rack 1, shelf 2, and slot 5/6.
Board type There are three types: OMP, OMM, and PP.

Parameter Description
Boot type Classified into fast boot, OS installation boot, local disk boot, and
USB boot.
Power off type Classified into CMM control power-off and non-CMM control
power-off.
4. Click OK.

l The NMS server and client have been started normally.
l You have successfully applied for the mutex right.
l Links of OMP and OMM are created.

1. In the Software Version Management window, click Version Management, and then
select Update Management. The Version Update Management tab is displayed,
see Figure 2-10.

2. click Add. The Open dialog box is displayed, see Figure 2-11.

5. Click to start the update. After the update is completed, the Step Progress
is displayed as 100%.

Result
After the update, uses can double-click the board on the Status Management tab, and
then select Board Running Version Query to query the update result of the operating
board.
If the update fails, uses can click Restore for version rollback.

1. On the menu bar of the Software Version Management tab, click Version
Management, and then select Version Check. The Version Check dialog box is
displayed, see Figure 2-13.

1. On the menu bar of the Software Version Management tab, click Version
Management,select Boot Type Management. The Board Boot Type Management
dialog box is displayed, see Figure 2-17.
2. Right-click the selected board, and then select an enabling mode from the shortcut
menu.
The enabling modes are classified into boot from board and boot from OMC (backup
boot).

1. In the topology tree of the Status Management tab, select SubNetwork > ME >
Physical Resource > Controller Rack.
2. Double-click Controller Rack, and then click the Controller Rack tab, see Figure
2-20.

3. Double-click the rack data. The Rack tab is displayed, see Figure 2-21.
4. In the rack chart, right-click a board, and then select Board Running Version Query
from the shortcut menu, see Figure 2-22.

5. For the query result, see Figure 2-23. Click Export to Excel to save the query result
to a specific location.
