RE: NEW POLL RESULTS: Hector Balderas well-positioned for re-election as New Mexico AG

Hector Balderas holds a commanding lead in his race for re-election as New Mexico’s Attorney General. Balderas
has earned the trust of voters, who widely approve of the job he is doing as the state’s chief law enforcement
officer and accordingly support him by a wide margin over Republican challenger Michael Hendricks. Balderas’s
lead extends across the major subgroups of New Mexico’s electorate, positioning him very well to hold on to the
seat this fall.

In addition, Balderas benefits from a favorable dynamic for Democrats at the top of the ticket as Democrat
Michelle Lujan Grisham currently leads by double digits in the open-seat race for Governor.

Key findings from Global Strategy Group’s recent statewide survey of 601 likely November voters are as follows:

KEY SURVEY FINDINGS:

• Balderas leads by a wide margin. Balderas is leading the race by 21 points (51% Balderas/30% Hendricks),
with Libertarian candidate A. Blair Dunn at 7%. Hendricks also has limited room to try to close the gap, with
just 12% of voters still undecided.
Balderas’s lead extends across all the major demographic subgroups of the electorate, as he leads among men
(+16), women (+23), younger voters under 45 (+21), middle aged voters 45-64 (+20), seniors 65+ (+19), college
educated voters (+31), voters without college degrees (+13), White voters (+11), and Hispanic voters (+39).

• Voters overwhelmingly approve of the job Balderas is doing in office. By a greater than four-to-one margin
(62% approve/14% disapprove), New Mexicans approve of the job that Balderas is doing as Attorney General.
Balderas’s job approval spans partisan lines, with Democrats (76% approve/5% disapprove), independent
voters (55% approve/24% disapprove), and Republicans (45% approve/23% disapprove) all far more likely to
approve than disapprove of how Balderas is handling his job.

• Top-of-the-ticket dynamics favor Democrats in November. Democrat Michelle Lujan Grisham leads by double
digits in the open-seat race for Governor, with a 10-point advantage over Republican Steve Pearce (52% Lujan
Grisham/42% Pearce) and just 5% of voters undecided.
