counterbore edge
3. Flange mating surface (surface A) for: Cracks
D. Dimensional Inspection/Check
1. Do all dimensional inspections with the part in a free state condition. Measure all
diameters at eight equally spaced locations. Find the sum of the eight values and
divide by eight to calculate the average diameter. Calculate the roundness of the
diameter. Subtract the minimum diameter from the maximum diameter and divide the
difference by two.
2. Do a dimensional inspection as follows:
a. Diameter B for Point ( 6.278 inches - 6.281 inches)
b. Diameter C for Point (6.178 inches - :6.181 inches)
c. Diameter E for Point (12.419 inches - 12.421 inches)
E. Pressure Test
1. Do a pressure test of the No. 3 bearing aft stationary seal with the
[856A1171G05 pressure test fixture.] do as follows:
a. Attach sealing plate and clamping plate (P19) on the seal with hand knob
b. Install the o-ring in the o-ring groove of stationary seal forward flange.
c. Install the seal on the base. Attach the seal with 12 fixture bolts with
previously installed washers. Torque the bolts to 55-65 lb in. (6,2-7,3 N.m).
d. Connect an air supply line, with a pressure gage, to the pipe nipple on the
base.
e. Put the seal and fixture in a water tank
f. Use the pressure control valve in the base to pressurize area V to 25-35 psi
(172-241 kPa).
g. No leaks permitted when tested for five minutes minimum
h. Remove the seal and fixture from the water tank
i. Disconnect an air supply line from the pipe nipple on the base
j. Connect an air supply line, with a pressure gage, to the pipe nipple on the
sealing plate
k. Put the seal and fixture in a water tank.
l. Use the pressure control valve in sealing plate to pressurize area U to 25-35
psi (172-241 kPa).
m. No leaks permitted when tested for five minutes minimum.
n. Remove the seal and fixture from the water tank.
o. Remove the seal from the fixture base.
p. Put the adapter on the oil drain passage on the forward flange of the
stationary seal to block and seal the duct.
q. Install the adapter with two fixture bolts.
r. Connect an air supply line, with a pressure gage, to the pipe nipple on the
sealing plate
s. Put the seal and fixture in a water tank.
