ABSTRACT

Background: Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI) is a disease that is often occurred in children with mild to severe
conditions. ARI is a group of diseases that can infect various levels of society and regions with different
geographical locations. Physical endurance is the resistance caused by physical barriers that make pathogens
difficult to attack or develop in an individual's body.
Objectives: This research aimed to discover the correlation between physical endurance and mothers' knowledge
of ARI on children in service area of Primary Health Care Center Madukara 1.
Methods: This was a descriptive quantitative research with cross sectional method. The population in this study
was the number of patient visits of ARI on children aged 0-5 years old from January to June 2017 which was 85
cases. 46 cases were taken as the samples. Data obtained were analyzed using chi square test.
Results: There was a relation between physical endurance and the incidence of Acute Respiratory Infections
(ARI) on toddlers at Primary Health Care Center 1 Madukara, Banjarnegara Sub-district. Based on Chi Square
test, ρ-value was 0.008 (< 0.05).
Conclusion: There was a correlation between physical endurance and the incidence of Acute Respiratory
Infections (ARI) on toddlers at Primary Health Care Center 1 Madukara, Banjarnegara Sub-district.
