Dear NEMS Parents,

Ryan Rich
Principal On Thursday, September 27th at 12:30 we will hold our first
ALICE drill of the school year. This drill will be used to
Andrea Lee discuss with students what we would do in an ALICE
Assistant Principal situation. We will not be announcing an intruder over the PA
system. We will also not be barricading, evacuating, or
Robert Williamson simulating loud noises. This first drill will be used to discuss
Assistant Principal procedures only.

NEMS teachers will be provided talking points and be

prepared to facilitate this drill with students. We will also
Jenn Schott inform students in advance of the drill so that they are
6th School Counselor prepared. Teachers have been reminded to watch for
changes in student behavior before, during, and after the drill,
Lizette Baumann/Drinan George and counselors will be available to students during and after

• We complete these drills in order to be prepared. If the

• Every student has adults in their lives that they can
talk to when they are struggling, and teachers and
counselors can be those adults. Please talk to them
after the drill if needed.

Thursday Afternoon Activity Bus
Students who are staying after school for a school sponsored club
or activity (not including athletics) can utilize this bus service.
Parents/guardians must complete the online form by 2:00 pm on
Wednesday to reserve their child's spot on the bus on Thursday.
The form must be completed for EACH DATE that your child
uses the bus. Please note that the Activity Bus can fill up. The
bus will leave NEMS at 4:10 pm. Drop off times will vary and can
take up to an hour. If you have questions about the late bus,
please contact Malinda Orr at (317) 773-0782. If you need to
contact the Bus Garage, please call (317) 773-7203.

NEMS Clubs & Activities
NEMS offers students a variety of clubs and activities. Our
students are made aware of these opportunities, as well as the
callout dates and times, through our daily announcements.
Please check the NEMS webpage for a listing of available clubs
and activities offered to our students.
The Exploring Music classes will be performing in the LGI
room all day on Friday, September 28. The 8th grade guitar
classes will be playing at 7:35 (first period class) and at 8:20
(second period class.) The 7th grade Hot Marimba classes will be
playing at 9:45 (third period class) and 10:35 (fourth period class.)
The 6th grade World Music Drumming classes will be playing at
12:30 (fifth period class) and at 1:15 (sixth period class.) Come
hear what our students have accomplished this
first quarter!

Fall Break – NO SCHOOL
NHS Homecoming September 21
NHS will celebrate Homecoming on Friday, September 21. Our
Student Council and wellness department are planning
homecoming themed activities for the week wrapping up with
school-wide team building activities on homecoming Friday.
Middle School students will then be released at 2:05 pm due to
the homecoming parade which will begin at 4:00 pm.
The NHS Varsity Millers will take on the Franklin Central Flashes
in the homecoming football game at 7:00 pm at Hare Chevrolet
Field.

 Noblesville Schools just installed an exterior video phone outside our main entrance. The
purpose of this phone is to further secure our front entrance and control who is entering
our building.
Here is the procedure for entry into NEMS:
1. The video phone will be in use from 7:00am to 3:15pm. Please do not
arrive before 7:00am.
2. Please have your ID ready before you approach the exterior video
phone. If you do not have a valid ID you will not be permitted to enter
NEMS.
3. Push the call button and wait for “Good morning/afternoon, may I help
you?”
4. Explain to receptionist your reason for needing entry into the building.
5. You will be required to hold your ID up to the video phone upon
request.
6. After showing your ID you will be asked to enter the vestibule and
proceed to the main office. Please keep your ID available.

Important notes:
• Only one person is permitted entry at a time. Do not enter the door
behind another visitor or staff member without checking in using the
video phone first.
• If there are a few people waiting to gain entry be prepared to wait your
turn at the video phone.
• As a final reminder, a valid ID is required to gain entry to the school.
