ABOUT US/TENTANG KAMI

NACE Institut Teknologi Student Section also called NACE ITS Student Chapter is student
association that have concern in corrosion. Below NACE Indonesia Jakarta Section as
professional section in Indonesia and headquartered in Houston with the closest office in Kuala
Lumpur, Malaysia. NACE ITS Student Section serve student to develop their career and
increase their knowledge in corrosion. Now NACE ITS Student Section have 38 member from
various major in ITS.

WHAT IS AN INTERNSHIP – Obtained from Common Best Practice Code for High-Quality
Internships

An internship is where an individual works so as to gain relevant professional experience

before embarking on a career. Well managed, high-quality internships should be beneficial to
both employer and intern. The intern should develop professional skills and an understanding
of a profession by undertaking work of value for an employer, enhancing their future
employability and creating a new, highly-talented future workforce.

The duration of internship can vary from at least four weeks to no longer than 12 months
(one year), but will typically last around three months depending on individual needs.
Internships may take place during vacation periods, in between courses of after a student has
finished higher education.

PURPOSE/TUJUAN
This guideline aims to provide knowledge, advice, and company reference for student that will
do an internship at the company, who do not yet have any work experiences.

SCOPE/RUANG LINGKUP
These guidelines apply to the student who have an internship planning.

TIPS FOR INTERNSHIP/TIPS KERJA PRAKTEK

This advice and tips obtained from various source like alumni, intern, and employee from
various company in Indonesia.
1. Searching for your interest topic then find the company that has a job section related
to your topic.
2. Ask any questions about the company with alumni or people you know (please be
polite).
3. Set schedule, adjust to the lecture schedule and company’s project if possible.
4. Submit the required file to the company (*note: for some companies, they have any
requirements for candidate).
5. Be professional with company or employee who contacted you (like fast-respond reply
e-mail and professional language). Keep in contact but don’t be like you terrorize, give
them time for processing your document.
6. The final decision of company accepts or not is a decision that has been considered.
It has many factor to make decision for intern.
7. Ask lecturer for task and assistance when you take place at company.
8. Prepare for anything like your knowledge and company profile, it’s a modal for initial
discussion and getting more knowledge (a lot of knowledge is used in field practice
and it’s interrelated).
9. If company give you another topic, do not reject it. Regard it as additional knowledge
for your future career.

10. Schedule your activities every day (example in appendices)

11. Be professional and proactive when you working, come on time and do not idle.
12. Do your job on time, faster will be very good. If the goal is 100%, give 200% (give
something different and more).
13. It’s really not only about what you are going to learn, it’s who you are going to meet!
It’s human connections that you are going to make. Your goal is to “network” and
“connect”. Say something and make a connection.
14. If you see even one person that looks at you and gives you a glimmer of hope
concerning people skills, attach yourself to that person, let them introduce you to
others.
15. Use this time wisely. Way too many of you go in and you think connections are just
going to be handed to you and they’re not. In reality, the opportunity is sitting right in
front of you and the whole punch line my friends is, it’s the people.
16. Create a memorable contribution for employees and keep in touch after internship
period.
