MAKATI CITY, Philippines — A man died after being hit by a
train of the Philippine National Railway along Osmeña Highway, Makati City at 9:36 a.m. on Tuesday, October 02. The victim was identified as alias Daniel, a 34-year-old street dweller from Samar. Daniel’s friend and fellow street-dweller, Leo Palanon, told police that the victim was drunk when he crossed the railroad track in an effort to avoid the clearing operation being conducted by the Department of Environmental Services (DES) Makati. Daniel was hit by the oncoming train and died on the spot. The identity of the train driver has been withheld in compliance with PNR’s standard operating procedure according to Train Marshall Valeriano Vicente Jr. He also clarified that they are willing to cooperate with the investigation. — UNTV News & Rescue
