ATE Cutoff marks are the minimum marks that are used as a parameter for screening the
admissions or recruitment. The GATE Cutoff marks can be broadly categorized as cutoff for
qualifying, cutoff for admissions or recruitment. The qualifying cutoff marks for GATE are the
minimum marks that a candidate has to obtain to be considered to have cleared the GATE exam. It is
mandatory that all candidates qualify or obtain the GATE cutoff marks for qualifying as it deems that
they have passed the entrance test. The qualifying cutoff is decided by the GATE council and the organ-
izing institute for the GATE exam
The PSUs determine the minimum GATE marks that they can use to broadly shortlist the candidates
for further recruitment process. This is the GATE Cutoff for PSU Recruitment. Candidates who score
around this cutoff stand a good chance of selection by the PSUs thus furthering their careers. However
the cutoffs mentioned in this ebook are based on data from the previous recruitment processes held by
the PSUs. They should not be used as the actual cutoffs as the GATE cutoffs generally are determined
after considering factors like the number of applicants, vacancies available.
The GATE cutoffs are the shortlisting criteria that will lead to selection of candidates if they clear the
personal interview and any other test or process that may be used to select the candidates.
