Philippines is a country located near and above the equator and one of the states residing near

the Pacific Ocean. It is said to be a tropical country that is rich in flora and fauna. People living in this state
are said to have possessed different positive characteristics such as hospitality, strong family ties,
religious, generous, helpful and respectful. By giving a stress on the last characteristic “respectful” most
of the people often had a single inclination. This trait or characteristics should also be considered not just
in humans but a bigger stress on our environment which other living beings resides.

Nowadays, we are suffering environmental dilemmas such as global warming, which leads to
different scenarios such as formation of stronger typhoons, frequent shaking of earth’s surface, abnormal
weather conditions, exaggerated fluctuation of temperature, frequent occurrence of flash floods and
landslides, which later brings inconvenience to humanities. Humans which we respect more are the end-
receivers of our maltreatment to our environment. One of the obvious representation of disrespect to
our environment is the improper waste disposal of households, businesses and other sectors. Households,
which consist of individuals like us, students, other family members, and other members of the local
community which should have the utmost discipline and respect for environment. Businesses, foreign or
local businesses, small or big businesses offering different products and services, proposing different
Corporate Social Responsibility programs which some are unimplemented properly. Most environmental
problems coming from different causes, one of which is improper waste disposal from these sectors.

The song entitled “Heal the World” by Michael Jackson, simply implies that we need to do
something to help our suffering environment. As a senior high school student of the Lyceum of Aparri, we
humbly propose a project which will strengthen the knowledge of everyone by re-educating them starting
from the individual members of the community about the relevance of climate change to proper waste
management, in one way or another to completely reverse the mentioned effects of climate change. The
key is the knowledge over something and the benefits one can received after applying this knowledge,
this is what the project proponents see as a solution to the problem.

Here are the details of the proposed project:

Proposed Project: PROPER WASTE DISPOSAL (PWD) : A BATTLE FOR CLIMATE CHANGE

PWD stands for both Proper Waste Disposal and Person with Disabilities.

RECOMMENDATION:

The above weaknesses and threats must be taken note in the implementation of the project.
That’s why we need to have a series of follow up visits to the community to check the proper
implementation of the project.
Adopt a community reward/recognition system to ensure active participation and proper
implementation of the project.
For financial aspects, we need to look for possible sponsors or support from different
environmental groups / movement or even in the local government funds for financial
assistance.
