Respected Sir,

Sub: Letter of changing on duty dates for attending International Workshop.

I had requested on duty to be as a participant in an International Workshop for 5 days from 8th
to 12th October 2018. Subsequently, the coordinators of the workshop have rescheduled the field work
session of the workshop 5 days in advance of the original date. My on duty dates in the previous letter
are from 8th to 12th October 2018 but I need it rescheduled from 3rd to 8th October 2018.
The international workshop is on epigraphy and it is the premier event for the researchers who
teach historical linguistics and translation studies to English Literature students. The agenda focuses on
visiting to historical sites, practical training, reading inscriptions, digital documentation and
preservation of inscriptions, textual analysis and compilation of epigraphic database and gaining
knowledge on the evolution of scripts: Tamiḻ-Brāhmī, Vaṭṭeḻuttu, Tamiḻ and Grantha that are very
relevant to my research area.
The workshop also features many lecture sessions that will greatly benefit my research work.
For example, reinterpretation of few selected inscriptions will help me to come up with new ideas and
that shall enhance me writing new research articles on Epigraphy.
Aim:
The workshop aims to turn the research scholars into epigraphists and enables the researchers to
use the resource of inscriptions with the proper guidance from the experts of Tamilnadu and Overseas.

Objectives:

 To explore and study the culture and civilization of South India based on the archaeological and
epigraphical sources.
 To collect, document, preserve, analyze, edit, digitalize and publish inscriptions, copper plates
and related documents pertaining to the history of Tamil Nadu.
 To increase knowledge in my research area (Grammatology) and thus my contribution to the
historical linguistics and educate my students by sharing information and knowledge of
epigraphy.
 To interact with the experts from all over the world to share information, learn how they are
deciphering inscriptions, and work together to get innovative approaches in deciphering the
ancient scripts.

Achievements:
The researcher has presented many research papers in various international, national and
regional conferences, published 3 books with ISBN and 60 international articles in which 19 are
published in Tamil research journals.
Herewith I am attaching the copies of the workshop brochure alongside the rescheduled new
brochure for your reference.
So I kindly request you to grant me on duty from 3rd to 8th October 2018.

Thank You,

Yours faithfully

R.Gnanasekaran.
