Universal Design for Learning (UDL): To support the learning experience for all students, I will individually
zoom in on the various bubbles so that students who have a hard time seeing can visualize the information
better. I will also include videos using the Vimeo option to enhance the experience.

Lesson idea implementation: As I address the standards, both the students and I will explore and explain the
causes, events, and results of the Revolutionary War. Students will be introduced to the project on Popplet by
viewing a video on BrainPop.com. This will gear them up and equip them with some basic knowledge on the
subject. It will take about 35 minutes to complete this lesson.

Student learning will be assessed by having them create their own concept map using materials at their desks.
To extend student learning to a higher level, students will be broken up into groups of three based on either
people, places, or things that occurred during the revolution and the war. In these groups they will use
computers and visit Popplet.com to create their own online concept map based on their subject. The final
product will be used to differentiate learning because the students have now used both technology and paper
to understand making a concept map on an assigned topic.
Reflective Practice: After designing this lesson idea, I feel that the activities I created could impact student
learning by showing them that normal concepts such as mapping or “brainstorming” don’t have to be done
with just pencil and paper. Popplet offers a new and creative way to implement concept maps in the
classroom and is extremely easy to use. To further extend the lesson I could include videos within the Popplet
to make it more interactive.
