1. Cricket (Men)

• Team Size: There will be only 1 team from the institute comprising 11 + 4 (subs) players max

• The match will be of Maximum 10 overs. Only Finals will have 12 overs

• All matches will be played with yellow heavy cricket tennis balls. New ball will be provided at

start of every innings

• Bats and balls will be provided by JOSH organizing team

• The result of a tied game will be decided by super over. If the super over is tied, the team that

has hit maximum number of Sixes in the super over will be the winner

• The LBW rule to get a batsman out is not applicable

• If the ball is lost during the course of the game, another ball of the same condition (subject to

availability) will be provided: the decision of which lies with the umpires

• Leg byes and byes are allowed in the game. Free hit for front foot no ball

• The mandatory dress code for the participating teams will be: T-Shirt, Track pant/Full pant &

shoes

• First 3 overs for each side will be the power play, where fielding restrictions apply (will be

explained by the umpire). For finals, power play will be of 4 overs

• The Umpire’s decision will be deemed final in any case of controversy and that will stand above

any challenge by any team

• There will be a break of 5 minutes between each innings

• Each team will get 40 minutes (50 for Finals) to bowl their 10-over’s failing which they will be

given a penalty of 6 runs for every over bowled after the specified time limit

• The format will be knockout or round robin based on number of participating teams

2. Basketball
a. For men

• Team Size: There will be only 1 team from the institute comprising 10 players max (5+5

substitutes)

• Duration: 4 quarters; 8 minutes each

• All the standard rules of the game would apply

• The referee’s decision will be deemed final in any case of controversy and that will stand above

any challenge by any team.

• One time out per quarter will be allowed to each team

• 4 Fouls per quarter and 5 personal fouls per match

• The format will be knockout or round robin based on number of participating teams

b. For women

• Team Size: There will be only 1 team from the institute comprising 6 players max (3+3

substitutes)

• Duration: 4 quarters; 5 minutes each

• For women, it will be half court

• The referee’s decision will be deemed final in any case of controversy and that will stand above

any challenge by any team.

• One time out per quarter will be allowed to each team

• 4 Fouls per quarter and 5 personal fouls per match

• The format will be knockout or round robin based on number of participating teams

3. Futsal (Men)

• Team Size: There will be 1 team from the institute comprising of 10 players max. (6+4

substitutes)

• The duration of each match will be 35 mins (15-5-15) and Finals it will be 45 mins (20-5-20)

[Match duration may be changed based on prevailing conditions]

• 5 mins halves for ET. If further tied, game will be decided by penalty shoot-out [Penalty rules

will be clarified on the spot]

• Goalkeeper may change places with any other player

• A maximum of 4 substitutes will be allowed per team in a game. Substitutions are rolling and

can be done even when the ball is in play but by informing the referee only

• The referee's decision will be deemed final and above the challenge of any participating

team

• If a player is shown a red card or two yellow cards, he will miss the next match and also

cannot play the present match

• The format will be knockout or round robin based on number of participating teams

4. Throwball (Women)

• Team Size: There will be only 1 team from the institute comprising 10 players max (6+4

substitutes)

• A team gets a point even for serve change

• All other standard rules of the game apply

• The referee’s decision will be deemed final in any case of controversy and that will stand

above any challenge by any team

• Matches consist of a best of 3 sets, except finals which will have 5 sets

• A set is won by the team which first scores 15 points with a minimum lead of two points

• The format will be knockout or round robin based on number of participating team

5. Volleyball (Men)

• Team Size: There will be only 1 team from the institute comprising 9 players max (6+3

substitutes)

• Matches consist of a best of 3 sets, except finals which will have 5 sets

• A team gets a point even for serve change

• A set (except the deciding, final set) is won by the team which first scores 25 points with a

minimum lead of two points

• In the case of a 1-1 set tie or a 2-2 set tie, the deciding set (the final) is played to 15 points

with a minimum lead of 2 points

• All other standard rules of the game apply

• The referee’s decision will be deemed final in any case of controversy and that will stand

above any challenge by any team

• The format will be knockout or round robin based on number of participating team

6. Lawn Tennis (Men)

• Team Size: The team will comprise of minimum 2 & maximum 4 players

• The team members should carry their own rackets

• It will be in the format of 2 singles & 1 doubles per team (singles-doubles-singles). Any player

can play only one singles match

• The referee’s decision will be deemed final in any case of controversy and that will stand

above any challenge by any team

• The format will be knockout or round robin based on number of participating teams

7. Carrom (Men & Women)

• Team Size: There will be only 1 team from the institute comprising of 3 men + 2 women

• Playing Members: 3 men + 1 woman

• There will be Men single, Women Single, Men double, where a team which has maximum

points will win the match (Point system will be explained before the start of the match)

• All the international rules will be followed as per the carrom federation website

• The referee’s decision will be deemed final in any case of controversy and that will stand

above any challenge by any team

• The format will be knockout or round robin based on number of participating teams

 8. Chess (Men & Women)
• Team Size: There will be only 1 team from the institute comprising 4 players (2 men & 1

woman + 1 substitute)

• All games would be played with 20 minutes’ clock time to each player

• Match Draws at any stage and in any structure, will be decided by a tiebreaker

• In a Tie Breaker one nominated player of both teams will be playing against each other in a

rapid- fire game

• Board order should be specified at the start of the tournament

• Substitute player always comes on the last board

• The referee’s decision will be deemed final in any case of controversy and that will stand

above any challenge by any team

• The format will be knockout or round robin based on number of participating teams

 9. Table Tennis (Men & Women)

• Team Size: There will be only 1 team from the institute comprising minimum 4 players (3

Men and 1 Woman) & maximum 5 players (4 Men and 1 Woman)

• The referee’s decision will be deemed final in that will stand above any challenge by any

team

• Each match consists of a best of 2 singles (Men), 1 doubles, 1 mixed-doubles and 1 singles

(Women), and one player can play maximum two matches.

• Each of the singles and doubles will be a best of 3 games of 11 points each.

• Participants can carry their own TT bats. However, the TT bats and balls will be provided by

the organizer.

• The format will be knockout or round robin based on number of participating teams

The Tournament Organizers reserves the right to cancel or modify the tournament rules if fraud,
technical failures or any other factor beyond reasonable control, impairs the integrity of the
tournament. The decisions of the organizers of the contest will be final and binding on all the
participants.
