Any suggestion tothe contrary is ‘simply not supported by the facts or by precedent. In this particular case, as soon as the university became aware of the allegations, the UNT Police Department launched an investigation wth the agreement of the Denton Police Department that UNT PD would serve as the lead agency. While some aspects ofthe investigation remain open, al information has been turned over to the Denton County District Attorney's office, ‘Any decision to move forward with charges remains solely tthe discretion ofthe district attorney. In addition to launching a comprehensive criminal probe into the allegations the university took several ational steps. UNT launched a Title Kinvestgation under the Student Code of Conduct; the university retained a leading national law frm to conduct an independent outside review of our men's basketball program, Including an examination of any potential NMA violations the culture and climate ofthe program. ‘without impropery disclosing the protected details ofthe various investigations or violating student privacy rights, we can share that none of the individuals Involved in te alleged criminal activity are currently a part ofthe UNT community. ‘As with any allegation of a sexual nature, UNT considers the wishes of the complainant as wel as the safety of the university community. The university relies ‘on cooperation ofthe complainant and other witnesses to fully review allegations. Anyone with information related to ths case or wth knowledge of ‘additional allegations should report the information to the UNT Police Department ‘We will continue to do everything we can to provide a safe environment forall members of our commurity.
